Have you ever had that feeling that something was going to happen?
Something bad?
Or that something unexpected was going to happen?
Perhaps something bad was going to happen but it would feel so right?
Well that's what I felt right now.
I was alone, sat opposite Matt, in Benares, a very expensive restaurant, one where a gentleman would take their date if they both liked Indian food.
The whole atmosphere screamed romantic with the jasmine scented candles lit up all around us. There was a huge brass candle holder which was shaped into two hearts, with the candles burning brightly. Rose petals surrounded the perimeter of the candle holder.
The mahogany tables were covered in a silky white cloth which was embodied with floral patterns.
On the walls there were several paintings, beautiful paintings, contrasting with the maroon red walls. The lights were dim making the candles stand out.
The door opened and average sized man walked in. His short cropped salt and pepper hair was combed back neatly, his rectangular glasses hanging off the bridge of his tanned nose. He smiled brightly at us, in his white chef uniform.
"This is Atul Kochhar," Matt informed me.
"May I take your order," Atul asked us.
I looked at the menu, looking for any pound signs.
"For starters can I get a Tandoori Ratan, for main course Macchi Amritsari and for desert Dhokla with Cashew Nut and Coconut Ice Cream, Butter Scotch please?" Matt asked politely as Atul noted his order down.
"Would you like any wine Sir," Atul asked him.
Matt shook his head in response.
"For the lady, what would you like," He asked. I shook my head and realized he asked me. I saw Matt snigger when he called me a lady and I sent him a glare.
"Err," I looked at the menu confused by the different choices. "Do you have anything like a salad or something," I asked flipping through the menu. Everything in this restaurant was very expensive and I wasn't going to make Matt spend that much money on me.
Atul looked at me for a second, "Yes we do but-"
"She won't have the salad," He snapped and I quirked an eyebrow at him.
"Are you allergic to anything," Matt asked. I shook my head.
"She'll have the Paneer, Bharwan Shimla Mirch Aur Palak for starters, Khumbi Khichdi for the main course and the Dark Chocolate Mousse, Passion Fruit, Hot Chocolate Sauce desert please," Matt said.
Atul nodded, "your order will be ready in fifteen minutes," he informed us, and then walked out leaving Matt and me alone.
I just say there, staring at Matt, my jaw dropped. He leaned over the table and using his index finger, he closed my jaw.
"Don't want any flies inside your throat love," he winked, his face inches away from me. I blushed, and looked down.
Egotistic, arrogant, controlling jerk!
Quiet music started playing from the stereo, a male projecting his voice.
"I love this song, Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley," Matt whispered and smiled. He closed his eyes and hummed along to the song.
"I didn't know you were into Elvis Presley," I said, surprised. His eyes snapped open. He stood up, pushing the chair back. He extended his hand out to me.
