I walked again through the endless hallaways when suddenly someone handed me flyer about today's talent show. Everyone seemed really excited and rushed to register themselves. I shrugged knowing there's no way I could stand up the stage doing any talents.I mean I have none.
As I was about to enter the class, I saw Colton giving me a mischievious look. He tilted hishead upwards and smirked. I shook my head and sit beside the window .
Finally, the bell rung, and students are required to make their way to the auditorium to watch the talent show. I chose the last row and took out my book, studying for my upcoming maths test. The judges starts to call name after name.
Throughout the auditions, there's some that caught my attention. I can't help but envied them for their talent. Like Lindsay, the girl who's in my english class, she can sure as heck play the life out of the piano, Brook, who's good at guitar while Colton played the drum.
"The last audition is Lucas Mason." I swear my heart starts beating faster than normal rate."Lucas?" The judge started to call me again. I tried to sink lower in my seat but of course, Colton just need to open his mouth. "He's at the last row."
Next thing I know, I'm being escorted up the stage where everyone's in the audience seat begin to give me the judging looks. I stood there, sweating hard. Glancing back at Colton, I saw him smirking at me.I knew it. He put my name there, "You know you could start already?" I nodded and do the easiest thing I could. Sing. I can't but I won't make a fool of myself.
I hold tight to the mic and started to sing.
When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse
And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I
Tears stream down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face
And I
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you.
I opened my eyes to see the audiences dumbfounded, their mouth slightly agaped open. After a minute passed, Brook rose up to her feet clapping when suddenly, all of them followed and did the same thing.Cheering was heard, whistling, clapping.I felt pride washed through me.For the first time, I felt like somehow I mattered to the world.
