I walk Logan to homeroom, which happens to be the same as mine. My hand is still holding his. I try to think of it as a comforting gesture. He doesn't like you so why waste your time questioning it, I tell myself. It's only in a friendly way. By the time we reach the end of the hall, I'm convinced that that's the reason.
As soon as we step foot in the room, all eyes are on us, examining Logan, me, and our linked hands.
Chelsea, who could win an award for hating me the most, exclaims, “I must be dreaming! Katharine is touching a guy?!”
My eyes travel to the floor, refusing to look at Logan, Chelsea, or anyone else. I drop my hand.
Chelsea takes a look at Logan. She approaches him and purrs, “Hello there, handsome.” She winks and struts back to her desk.
Her actions enrage me. She doesn't even know him! But I can’t let my emotions show.
Luckily, Logan quickly retreats from her stare. He whispers, “Who the hell is she, and what the hell is wrong with her?”
“Chelsea,” I laugh. “Everything is wrong with her. Except for her ability to have guys obsess over her, even when they know she’ll just screw them over.”
Logan’s eyebrows shoot up. “I think I’ll stay away,” he says.
I nod and tell him it’s a good idea.
Throughout the day, I lead Logan to all of his classes.
I can't help but notice that everyone seems to be in love with him.

When it’s time for lunch, I show Logan to the cafeteria. “Do you want to sit with me? I’m not really friends with the people I sit with, so we can just be off to the side of the table.” I suggest. “Only if you want” I quickly add.
"Sure," Logan saves me from embarrassment.
We take a seat at the edge of the table, away from Madison's friends who I'm forced to sit with. I notice that Madison seems to be eyeing up Logan.
He catches her peeking, which makes her display a playful smirk to him,and an evil one to me.
Other than a silent war between Madison and I, lunch is just like any other day. Only today, I can actually talk and listen to things that are actually relevant or interesting, like Logan’s old school. It’s comforting that someone would share that type of thing with me.

On the bus ride home, I sit beside Logan once again. “I guess I was overreacting yesterday. I didn't really have a reason to be nervous,” he admits.
“You did great,” I praise, “everyone loves you.”
Logan smiles, which triggers one to pop onto my face. “Thanks for showing me around,” he says.
“Any time,” I reply.
Our conversation steers clear of the comments we received from Chelsea.
