As a swimmer, building your stamina is the number one priority to prevent exhaustion during the competition. And I, as a swimmer, need to maintain my fitness to easily move in water. Ever since Katy told us that we'll be participating in a swimming competition next month we've been doing our work outs and training after school. Since we only have one pool in our school the captains of the boys and girls team, Katy and Sean, decided to do our trainings alternately. Girls will be using the pool on Monday and Wednesday, while the boys on Tuesday and Thursday. On Friday, both boys and girls will use the pool and will have a little race against both teams, it'll be helpful for us to improve our speed and flexibility. Most of the participants belong to the higher levels while the new recruited members, the freshmen, will just have to watch and study how the Edison Highschool swim team do during a competition.

I woke up early to get ready for my training. Ever since we've been told about the competition, I've been running from house to school every morning. I asked Jane if she wanted to join me, since she's also a member of the swim team, but she rejected it. She isn't the type of person that likes physical exercises which is why she always complains after our training. I know for a fact that she only joined the swim team because I'm part of it and that we first met each other because of swimming.

It takes 10 minutes to reach the school from our house if you ride a car but since I was running, it took me almost 20 minutes.

When I arrived at school I spotted Jane, waiting and waving to me, at the entrance and hurriedly went to her. She handed me a bottle of water, which I needed now because of the long run, and gratefullly drank it. She also handed me my bag and my change of clothes. I excused myself to go to the restroom to freshen myself up and change my attire.

I can't hang out with Chad and Gab as much now because of our training. Speaking of Gab, sometimes it's really hard to notice his presence because he stays so quiet and doesn't talk to us. We only have time to see each other at lunch. Since Chad eats lunch with me and Jane, Gab doesn't have a choice but to also eat with us, knowing that he doesn't have any other friends aside his brother.

"So how is your training?" Chad asked.

"So far so good," I answered with a big smile on my face, obviously enjoying it, "though it's really exhausting."

"Agreed, it's so exhausting. Every muscle in my body aches everytime I move." Jane whined, she's complaining again.

We shared all the happenings on our training to Chad and laughed hysterically about our failures. While Gab, being a loner, stayed silent on the side, not joining in on our conversation.

We stayed silent after we got tired from laughing. Jane started the conversation again complaining about the training that we do. I tried to convince her that it is needed to prevent injuries but with her childish attitude she covered her ears with her hands and ignored me. I pulled her hands from her ears and repeatedly told her about the importance of it but we were stopped when a familiar voice spoke unexpectedly.

"She's right, physical exercises are important to prevent muscle injuries. It's also necessary to do some warm ups and stretching before you dive into the pool, they produce enhancements in power, agility and muscle endurance." Gab informed us. All the three of us were speechless and shocked from what we just heard.

He finally talked! Gab finally talked to us! And not just talk, he gave us a very informative speech, though we already knew what he said, meaning he was listening to us.

Gab noticed the awkward silence so he broke it. "That's what Dad told me." Then he excused himself and went to his class.

Right after he left, the three of us couldn't bear it anymore so we broke the silence and laughed so hard. Hard enough that tears started falling from our eyes.
