“WHAT?!”

That was all Jane able to say after she learned that Gab was my childhood friend. Well, I couldn’t blame her, I mean we eat together at lunch and sometimes hang out together after school but no one told her that the two of us had known each other since we were kid. At first, I wasn’t sure if I had to tell Jane, but among the 4 of us she was the only one who didn’t know the truth. Chad didn’t even say a thing about it and I wonder if Gab already knew that I was his childhoood friend. It would be unfair for Jane so I decided to tell her.

“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Jane now asked after she recovered from her shock.

"It's just that Gab doesn't act like he knows me so I thought that it's not necessary to tell you about our past." I answered, while looking in the ground. I couldn't looked up to see her face, I was feeling guilty right now for keeping it a secret from her for a long time.

"But haven't you ever considered to tell me since I'm your BESTFRIEND?" Jane now asked, emphasizing the word 'bestfriend', if she wants me to feel guilty, well, it was effective cause right now I was feeling more and more guilty.

"I'm sorry ok? I know you're my bestfriend that's why I'm telling it to you. Even I was shocked when I found that the guy that I used to hate is my childhood friend."

"Does Chad know about it too?"

"Yes. But he doesn't say a thing so I thought it's better if I keep my mouth shut. And I don't even know if Gab already knew about it. Well, he probably does because he was with my parents when they watch the swimming competition but he still acts the same, you know like I'm a total stranger to him."

Jane didn't look pissed anymore but she looked like she was symphatizing me. Well, it was better than seeing her eyebrows connected and looking at me like I was some criminal.

"Ok, fine. Just don't do it again. Remember that I'm your BESTFRIEND and bestfriends don't keep a secret to each other."

I nodded and smiled at her in agreement. I was glad that she wasn't mad at me. Then, we parted ways and went to our own class.

I was about to enter in the classroom when I ran into Gab. I called him, so I could thank him for coming to the swimming competition but him being jerk he ignored me, again.

I don't what's wrong this guy. When I'm about to thank him he always turns into a dumbass. We mostly spend our time together but he still doesn't acknowledge me as his friend.

I tried to calm myself. I didn't want my day to be ruined just because of him.  So I entered in the classroom and pretended like nothing happened but it was hard because he was in my class.

It was a wonderful day. Everyone in school congratulated us, the swim team, about our victory. It sure nice to be popular.

This day was finally over. Having physical education for last hour was very tiring. We didn't have practice today so I was just going to go home. My muscles were still aching after our practices and trainings before and during the competition so I would be needing a rest for a while.

After I got changed from our P.E. uniform to my normal clothes, I headed to the driveway to get my car. Jane went home early. She said she had an important thing to do, good thing she told me that before I went to school, so I had a chance to ask Dad if I can borrow his car to drive for myself.

On my way to the driveway I ran into Mr. Cross, our P.E. teacher. He asked me to return the ball and the net, that we used in our volleyball  class a while ago, to the stock room. Since I didn't have anything to do and Jane already went home I said yes.
