We get home to Taio waiting on the porch for us. His face is schooled to show no emotion but I know it's taking all his willpower to remain stoic and not give me a lecture.
I come out of the car and walk to the passenger's side to bring out Demi.
I try my best to not wake him up as I position myself to lift him out of the car.
Taio comes closer to us and starts to say something but whimpers from both Demi and I stops him cold.
He's beside me in an instant to take over from me. I really don't want to give up my place, but he gives me a knowing look as I hold his stare; a silent conversation ensuring between us.
Reluctantly, I step away from Demi as Taio replaces me.
I watch with jealousy and a little gratitude as Taio replaces me and lifts him out of the car in one swift motion. Demi is probably the leanest dude I've seen but it didn't stop Taio from making it look like he was carrying a month old baby.
It also didn't help my jealousy that Demi settled into his chest comfortably as Taio took him into the house.
Come Monday, I am resuming therapy.
