You gazed silently out of the car's window without a sound. You weren't actually looking at the outside scenery, but rather lost inside your thoughts. Internally, you wished you could sleep, but this damn mind of yours didn't seem to want to take a nap.

Silence had been acutely implemented into the car since you left the mission. It filled up space, making the atmosphere truly suffocating. It's not like you were eager to talk anyway, but Bucky wasn't either apparently.

Speaking of which, he was the one driving the car back from your mission. You two had been paired up a couple of times lately, as many judged you were an effective team. And they were right without a doubt. But this time, nothing had been played in your favor and deeply, you wondered if he would ever work with you again.

Your relationship with Bucky was hard to describe. You were good friends, as well as incredible teammates, that usually communicated with sarcasm and constant mindless flirting. It was a joke at this point, and neither of you took it seriously. But lately, your mind wandered a lot on the subject, asking yourself if Bucky could be more than a friend. Although you didn't think too much about it, not wanting to get distracted from the job.

A yawn exited your mouth, and you rubbed your eyes tiredly. You deeply wished to fall asleep before the peaceful silence turned
into an awkward one.

"Are we never going to talk about it?" you heard Bucky say to your side, making you jump. You were surprised he spoke the first word, as he was an icon of stubbornness. But, so were you.

"What is there to talk about?" you snapped back, not minding to give him a look.
"You already know (Y/n)." he replied frowning.

You exhaled sharply, and turned around.

"I know, and I said I'm sorry, alright?" you replied, a hand through your hair. "But I was not going to let these men die, absolutely not."

During the mission, you had two objectives: transfer the H.Y.D.R.A. computer files onto a key in order to bring it back to the Avengers H.Q., then swiftly destroy the base afterward. The trick was, an idiot on the enemy's line activated an auto-destruction maneuver before the end of the mission, leaving you no other choice but to leave. But when you discovered hostages were being held in the base, you took the stupidest but bravest decision in that situation: you rushed in the room and hurried to free them. In conclusion, you didn't get what you came for, but these
people were saved.

Bucky sure didn't agree with this. He was the kind of guy to follow the rules step by step rather than get around them. Not only he was mad he couldn't get the files, but the fact that you had put your life in danger for something that wasn't part of the plan infuriated him.

"You could have beem dead by now." he replicated, clicking his tongue in annoyance. "You shouldn't have been so careless."
"I knew all the risks Bucky. When I took this job, I knew my life would be at risk."
"It's still not an excuse to run into a burning room to save two persons!"

You rolled your eyes, closing your fists tightly. It made you completely furious that the mission completion had a higher importance than human lives for him.

"The government's been watching over us lately." you muttered, talking slowly in order to keep your calm. "Do you even imagine what they would have done if we'd let these men burn inside this building?"
"And what do you think they would have said if you died along with them?"

Silence once again took over the conversation, leaving you to your thoughts once more. Yes, he was mad, and you were mad at him for it. He couldn't understand the importance of what you did, which made you angrier. But on a slightly higher note, you couldn't help but think he looked very hot when mad. 'Why am I even thinking about that now?' you asked yourself, trying to brush the thought away. Which didn't worked, as you felt your cheeks get hotter.

"Look, I'm alright now, and that's all that matters." you finally snapped back at him. "Would you please stop babysitting me like I'm eight?"
"You lack experience." he instantly replied. "This is the real world (Y/n), and you can't always play the hero without consequences!"

You lifted your head in the time of a blink, a mix of confusion and rage plastered on your face, before looking straight into his eyes. That's it, now you were really mad.

"Who do you think you are?" you exclaimed. "Do you really think of me as an inexperienced kid?"

As you were about to throw him insults in the conflict, Bucky abruptly turned the car, making your head bump on the window. A couple of seconds later and he parked the engine on the roadside, before turning in your direction with a serious expression.

"That's exactly the opposite of what I meant." he declared in a low tone. "You have a lot of potential, and you just need to exploit it. I know you want good for everybody, but running mindlessly into a room in flames is just suicidal."
"They were going to die!"
"So were you!"

You sighed loudly, crossing your arms over your chest in frustration, and turned your gaze away from your friend.

"Who do you care so much anyway..." you muttered silently, but loud enough for Bucky to hear.
"Because you're my friend, and that's what friends do!"
"We're not just friends, and you fucking know it."

But as you thought you only said it to your mind, you noticed Bucky looking at you with confusion in his gaze.

"Wait, what?" he asked, troubled.

And you realized, you actually said those words out loud. 'Have I really?!' you yelled at yourself, sweating intensely. For once, you were in lack of words to say, and Bucky seemed too. The situation clearly couldn't go worse.

"I've heard right, didn't I?" he finally whispered. "(Y/n), answer to me."

He placed his hands on your shoulders, making you turn in his direction, to notice the bright blush onto your cheeks, as well as the embarrassed expression into your eyes. Actually, it could get worse.

"You weren't supposed to hear that..." you mumbled, a hand onto your forehead in shame.
"But I did, and you owe me some explications."

Too stressed to say a word, you just kept your mouth shut and carefully avoided his gaze.

"You know what?" Bucky finally exclaimed, exasperation in his voice. "Screw the explanations."

You didn't even have time to interpret his words that he pinned you on the passenger's seat, firmly smashing his lips onto yours. Your eyes widened in surprise, but the emotion didn't last long: you replied passionately to the kiss, closing up the space between your bodies. His hands went around your waist, and you two stayed in that position until the air was necessary. You leaned back slowly.

"I have no idea how this happened, but I'm not complaining." you whispered, a smirk plastered on your lips.
"Me neither."

He kissed you once again, more sweetly this time, and you replied eagerly to his affection. During long minutes, you two stayed in each's others arms, even if the passenger's seat wasn't the most comfortable place of all for that type of activity.

"Still think I lack experience Buck?" you asked mockingly.
"Shut your mouth before I shut it for you." he replied with a playful gaze.
"Make me."
