"(Y/n), honey, you should put a smile on your face." pouted (G/f/n). "Enjoy the evening a bit."

You exhaled deeply at her comment, taking yet another sip of your drink. Sure, it was easy for her to tell you to enjoy, while she had her boyfriend at her side. Going at prom like an ordinary and safe relationship, you thought. Which wasn't your case, obviously.

Pietro, your loveable and charming boyfriend, wasn't some random guy you met at school. Sure, he was a couple of years older than you, but he also was part of the mighty superhero team that watched over the world, the Avengers. Nobody knew about it, of course. But you were ready to let go of the secret tonight, only to spend your prom with him. Sadly, he was on a mission he couldn't miss, and had no other choice but to leave you alone in this beautifully decorated room, sipping on a drink you had no idea what was in.

The story of your encounter wasn't ordinary itself. A couple months before, you had been on a humanitarian trip with your school in Sokovia, to help and rebuild the society. But during the trip, weird robot things began to attack the civilians, and you lost the rest of your group before getting stuck on the part of the town that flew into the sky.

Hiding behind a destroyed truck, you stayed put for long hours. Cement and ashes recovered your body, while your eyes couldn't even see a meter away. And as you thought your end was near, an angel appeared in front of you. Okay, not a real angel, but that's what you thought at first. Until you perceived the blonde man with soft baby blue eyes in front of you who, in his case, was actually real.

Ever since that first eye contact, the two of you could never get enough of each other. You loved him with the entirety of your soul, and he did too. The only downside was to have to live all that love and passion in secret, but you knew that would soon be over.

"Where did you said your boyfriend was again?" asked (G/f/n), making you drift off from your thoughts.
"Busy, somewhere." you answered, casually. "He's working, you know."

That was the common lies you told everyone. "He's working.", or simply "He's older.". Surprisingly enough, they all seemed to absorb that false truth pretty easily.

"I'm still not over the fact that you've gotten yourself an older man. " she giggled, putting down her empty glass on the table. "You should show me some pictures, I'm dying to know what he looks like."
"Don't you have a boyfriend?" you scoffed mockingly.
"I'm just curious!"

She laughed, while you contented of a smile. You knew she was doing her best to cheer you up, the least you could do was to make efforts to enjoy the night. But as you were about to start a conversation, (G/f/n)'s boyfriend arrived and sat at the table, next to his girlfriend.

"Hey baby." he called out. "Hi (Y/n)."

You sent him a quick sign of hand, then had to watch through the make out session they engaged. Of course, the third wheel's role was yours again, so you waited they were done to place a word.
