Blurb:They said it wouldn't happen here. They were wrong. Fascism is coming to a street near you. Life in Wattleton is boring, dull and all too often dangerous. Unemployment is at an all time high. Money is scarce and jobs are even scarcer. There is no future. There is no hope. The British Patriotic Front will sort things out. Get the country back on its feet again. Restore the lost glory of the past. Unless, of course, you don't fit into their perfect world. When they seize power most people here don't think things can possibly get any worse. But it's not long before some in this town are left with a terrible choice. Resist or die. Damaged is Book 1 in a trilogy.

-0-This book is political but it's written with a passion for people from all walks of life. It scared the hell out of me. Why, because it feels close and leaves a taste that is uncomfortable in your mouth as it seems so realistic. I'm not a political person and I never will be, I would say I try to see things from all perspectives but after reading this book it's left an imprint on me that few books do.
The writer has been incredibly inventive here in her concept of looking at each character from different ethnic and political backgrounds and writing each piece of the story from their outlook. You therefore have a clear insight of each individual's feelings and mindset.
You are invested with each of the characters and pulled into their world. The jigsaw of the story comes together and all the characters interlink and mingle with each other with dramatic consequences.
Your eyes are very much opened to other people's circumstances. There is a strong link to Nazi Germany in the story and the interrogation scene is not for the faint hearted and the mature rating is therefore necessary.
It made me think that we should never forget that despite the passing of years, many of us reading this today are a product of descendants of immigrants from one disaster or another in history.
Throughout the book you are drawn into their world of fear and all that entails. Never has liberty been so important. Freedom seems a thing of the past. If you are not seen to comply with requisite British Patriotic Front re-training programme the result is grim.
Protest seems futile until one day the first domino falls starting a chain reaction of change.
When you finish the book I promise it will leave a massive impact on you that few do.
I know the writer wishes to edit before submitting this book to be featured but in my eyes it definitely is worthy of being so.
