Chapter 9:
You Should Have Listened

"What's a mate-bond? Why was Alex speaking to Eric threw mind-link?"

Xavier and Eric turned to look at Alexandria, giving her a 'what-the-hell' look.

Alex lifted her hand in surrender, "I'm bad at secrets; okay?"

"Look, Lucia, we are sorta in a gang, I guess you could say. More like a Mafia group, we have these Bluetooth's that stay in our ears the whole time in case anything ever happens, we call them mind-link. Eric was trying to find me since he didn't see me in the cafeteria, and when I was mumbling he heard the panic in my voice and thought I was in trouble. He knew where I was because of a tracker our Bluetooth's have and we call them mate-bond," Alex explained.

Xavier and Eric gave Alex a questioning look throughout her whole speech but nodded in agreement when she shot them a look. I didn't believe anything she was saying but nodded my head as if I believed her.

"But please don't tell anyone, many from the school are part of our group," Alex added.

I nodded my head.

I walked out the school, heading towards my car. School had just finished and I needed to go get a shipment. I was opening the door to my car when I heard my name being called. I looked behind me to see Alex, Eric, and Xavier making their way towards me. I closed the door of my car and leaned on it. I raised an eyebrow at them when they finally stopped in front of me.

"Hey, we wanted to invite you to a Barbecue we are going to have on Monday in the afternoon," Alex said happily.

"Since we don't have school Monday, we were wondering if you could come," Xavier added.

"Yeah, I think I can make it," I answered, not really sure if I could, I was heading back to San Diego after the shipment and coming back Monday.

"Think?" Eric questioned.

"I'm going out of town during the weekend," I answered.

"Where?" Xavier quickly asked.

"San Diego, just picking up some stuff we left behind."

"Oh," was all Xavier said.

"Well, see you Monday! I hope," Alex said, breaking the awkward silence.

I nodded, and got into my car, starting it up and heading towards the coast.

Once I got to port, where the shipment would arrive by boat, I parked my car next to the white truck where we would place the shipments. Some of my father's men were already here, standing near the edge of the harbor, waiting for the boat to park properly. Once the boat was secure, the men went on the big boat and started caring boxes off it. They brought the boxes towards the truck and placed them in the back. I went up to the man who drove the boat gave him a bag filled with money which he deserved. He nodded his head in thanks and quickly drove off as soon as the last box was picked up. When the boxes were tied and secured, I gave the keys to my car to one of the men and got into the truck's driver's seat. I started it up and waited for my father's men to get into their cars.
