Chapter 11:

Werewolves

"Oh, mi Dios! Lucía! Mí bebé!" mother cried walking towards me.

Her voice, how I missed that voice, wishing, praying, that I would hear that voice once again. That voice that once brought me comfort, even in the worst times. How many times I cried, yelling at the sky to bring back my mother. Or just to bring her back for one day, a minute, or even a second, just to tell her goodbye and hear her speak one last time. How hard I sobbed until my throat and chest hurt and I could no longer cry because it physically hurt.

I gave her a confused look, "I'm sorry, but do I know you?"

"Lucia, soy tú mamá! How could you not remember me?" She said, her Spanish accent strong.

"Perdón, I'm not sure what you're talking about, my mother is dead."

"Mamá, she's not our Lucia," Diego said walking into the kitchen, trying to comfort his mother.

"Si es mi bebé, una mamá never forgets her child," she told him, pushing him away, trying to get to me.

Seems like you had no problem forgetting about me these past years when you were supposedly dead.

"What's going on here?" A voice boomed, it demanded attention, held authority.

I turned to see Xavier standing there, as soon as we made eye contact he walked towards me.

"She thinks I'm her daughter Lucia," I whispered to him as soon as he was standing next to me.

"Mrs. Rivera, I think you need to go calm yourself down," he said pulling me away from the kitchen and back to the backyard.

"Hey what was that back there in the kitchen?" Alex said once she saw us.

"Mrs. Rivera thinks Lucia is her daughter," Xavier replied.

"What? She is. Right, Lucy? Maria's her mother and Diego's her brother. Maria, Diego, and my family all come from the same place, we know each other since we were born," Alex said.

God dammit Alex.

"Ves! Ella es mí Lucía!" Mother suddenly cried from behind me.

"No wonder she looked so familiar," Fernando said walking up to us.

"Yeah, she admitted to me that she was when I first met her," Alex said.

Shut up, Alex!

"What? I thought you said you didn't know them," Xavier accused me.

"No, I don't, my mother and brother are dead," I replied harshly.

Xavier gave me a confused look, clearly not believing me.

"Baby what's wrong?" Blake, mother's so-called mate asked her.

"She's Lucia, mí bebé," mother cried.
