The sun was beginning to rise, the rays of sunlight hitting the Seoul streets as Yoongi was woken up by the ear-piercing noise of his alarm clock. Five more hours. He smacked it lazily, not knowing he'd pressed the snooze button instead of the actual shut off button on his phone, so five minutes later, the same scenario was put into play, only this time, his brother stormed into his room with a guitar.
"HYUNG GET UP OR I'LL HIT YOU WITH MY GUITAR!" Jihoon screamed at the top of his lungs. He had a singer's lungs so naturally, his screams were pretty high pitched. This was one of the youngest boy's bad habits. Ever since he was little he'd had a gargantuan temper, probably from his mother. How he dealt with that anger was threatening to hit people with guitars. Gotten into much deserved trouble with his parents for his unruly behaviour.
"Your guitar doesn't deserve to the pain of being hit against me." Yoongi mumbled. But Yoongi, being his older brother and the closest person to him, knew all the ways to manipulate him into doing what he wanted, instead of how Jihoon perceived it would turn out. "What did your guitar ever do to you? Write you good music?" He murmured, his eyes still closed. Jihoon slowly put his guitar down and felt guilty for threatening to hurt Yoongi with it. It was true, the guitar did nothing to receive such life-threatening punishments, so he went out the room in search of another way to wake his brother. Yoongi scoffed, thinking he'd won. Gets him every time!
But then, Jihoon came back with a bucket of freezing cold tap water, poured it on his brother's face and dashed through the door, laughing mischievously.
Yoongi sat up immediately and forced his sleep filled eyes open. "JIHOON!" Yoongi roared. He ran down the frigid stairs after his brother only stopping for a second to say good morning to his father's memorial shrine. "Morning dad," he bowed. "JIHOON GET BACK HERE!"
Jihoon prayed his life might be spared, didn't really regret his actions though. "NO WAY!" Jihoon found his way into the bathroom.
"THIS CHILD! COME OUT YOU PIECE OF TRASH!" Jihoon giggled as he locked himself in the toilet. "GET OUT HERE AND FACE ME YOU LITTLE PRICK!" This was too much for a Monday start, too much for any day really.
Jihoon gasped. "THAT WORD IS FORBIDDEN IN THIS HOUSEHOLD! MOM SAID SO!" Jihoon struggled to hold the door shut with all strength he could muster.
"WHAT?! MOM NEVER SAID 'PRICK' WAS FORBIDDEN!" Yoongi screamed from outside the door, still trying to force the door open from the outside.
"NOT THAT WORD! THE OTHER ONE! THE ONE YOU SAID BEFORE PRICK!" He couldn't have been referring to 'little', could he?
"LITTLE?!" Yoongi could hardly believe his ears. The word 'little' was banned in their household? Since when?!
"YAH! I SAID THAT'S FORBIDDEN!" He screamed out of the closed door of the bathroom he'd playfully locked himself in, hoping he'd keep his life on this cold Monday morning. "I'M TELLING MOM YOU SAID THE FORBIDDEN WORD!"
"THIS IS RIDICULOUS!" Jihoon could feel his older brother glare from inside the bathroom. "COME OUT OR I'LL CALL MOM AND TELL HER YOU'VE GOTTEN INTO DRUGS!"
"Seriously hyung?" Jihoon sounded defeated upon hearing such pathetic threat. "You think mom'll buy that? I'm her baby!" True words, quoted right from Mrs. Lee herself. "She'll probably think you're the one taking drugs!"
"JIHOON!" he screamed in frustration. "I'LL TEL HER YOU GOT A GIRLFRIEND AND THEN YOU'LL REALLY BE SCREWED!"
"THEN I'LL TELL HER ABOUT THAT GUY YOU HAD SEX WITH IN YOUR ROOM LIKE TWO MONTHS AGO!"
"HEY! IT WAS A ONE NIGHT STAND AND WE ALL KNOW HE WAS THE ONE WHO WANTED TO DO ME AND NOT THE OTHER WAY 'ROUND!"
"YEAH SURE! WHATEVER!"
"YAH KWON JIHOON!" Yoongi finally pulled out his brother's full name. He glanced up at the clock and saw how much time their small dispute had taken. "We're gonna be late."
Jihoon stopped fighting Yoongi's force and the opened the door violently quick. "WELL DON'T JUST STAND THERE! GET DRESSED AND LET'S GO!"
"I WOULD BUT WHO WAS HOLDING THE DOOR TO THE BATHROOM ALL THIS TIME?!" and the two ruffians went about their morning routines as normal.

Sure enough, Yoongi and Jihoon had made it out of the house in time, taking their separate routes toward their schools. Jihoon was almost four years younger than Yoongi, meaning there was still a time before he finished junior high. So they didn't see much of each other outside of their house. When they did however, they goofed around like 2 fools high on life. The two brothers would get into unimaginable arguments about the stupidest things, like who got the last chip in the crisp packet, who did the dishes or who cleaned the dog's poop up after she'd done her business. Nonetheless, the two were very close, a platonic friendship if you will.
Yoongi walked up the road to his school, music blaring in his ears as he went past that grubby, angel faced homeless guy he'd given his umbrella to the other day, on his way to school. He removed his headset and gazed over at him, his head was hanging low, same place he'd been in for a while. Come to think of it, he was at the same place that day too, when Yoongi gave up his umbrella, he hadn't moved at all.
It seemed he was given a shawl to put around his neck, to keep him just a little bit warmer through the cold nights. He still had his head bowed down, his attention fixed somewhere on his lap, or maybe he was asleep. Yoongi imagined how painful that must've been for his neck, the aches he'd have to endure once he woke. He'd felt the pain of an aching neck early in the morning when he'd fallen asleep on his mac book, writing songs and lyrics to match.
The boy lifted his gaze, eyes meeting the morning rays of light. He fluttered his eyes open and as his vision cleared, he saw a light grey head of hair, quickly recognising Yoongi from the other day. His eyes smiled in time with his lips as he waved over at him.
He jumped in surprise, his head snapping behind him to make sure he was waving at someone else and not him. No one. He looked back at the boy in ripped, messy drab, who was still smiling at him. Yoongi hadn't noticed he had stopped walking, just to get a long glimpse of the boy sitting on the sidewalk by the river bank. He widened his eyes at the boy's bright gesture, found himself looking away once again, a tinge of red dusted on his cheeks, racing to beat the bell. What was that all about? He'd never been so mesmerised...
