11. Interruption and Introduction

Rue's POV

"Rue, do you-"

He is interrupted by the door opening. Rue escapes from his hold, not wanting anyone to see that she is with him. She does wonder what he was going to say though.

"Slowcoach! I gave you a whole song's time. What's wrong with you, dude?" Someone's  laughter rings through the room as the lights turn on.

Some people comes into the room after that someone, whom she doesn't recognise.

She looks at Chaol, but his face has gone back to the usual bored kind of expression. She feels a little disappointed but she can't get a grip on the reason why. Maybe it's because he is suddenly cold? She doesn't know.

"Thanks for the interruption, Seth. I appreciate it very much."

Rue can't judge whether it is sincere or sarcastic. If it's sincere she'll just hate him. If it's sarcastic, why though?

"Hello girl, over there. I'm Seth, his bastard friend." Seth says.

Rue spends a little time studying him. He is tall and lanky, slightly shorter than Chaol. Gray eyes, and silver hair, probably dyed. His heart shaped face makes him look more cute than hot.

"Wake up from your trance, sleeping beauty." Seth stops her train of thoughts. "I know I'm hot. Now, introduce yourself." He chuckles and the people behind him laugh.

She sees a movement of Chaol's fists. Is he mad because of her? She looks at him again and sees that there's nothing going on.

'Well I guess that the dance just now was probably nothing, just some dance with some random girl. Just look at how his friends treat me like trash and he doesn't even defend me. Proves that he already had so many girls that it's just common.'

"I'm Rue." She manages to reply.

"Hello Rue, I'm Francis." A blond haired boy winks at her.

"I'm Damen. Remember me from just now?" The same half drunk says to her. She nods in reply.

"I'm Asbjorn. And here's my girfriend Sara." Another boy with long hair holding a girl with not much clothing says.

"Hi." Rue responds to the little wave Sara gave her.

"I'm Clary." A girl with long hair flowing till her hips says while putting her hand around Seth protectively, as if Rue would take him away from her.

The door is barged in again, this time by Laurent and three girls behind him.

"Hey there, princess!" Laurent calls out when he sees Rue. "Seems like the whole party is here eh?" "C'mon girls introduce yourselves to princess."

'Wow. Laurent is such a playboy. I wonder why would Kate want him. And no wonder he was that sweet.' Rue thinks. Then, she sees a glimpse of Kate behind Laurent, blushing.

Rue shakes her head a little. She feels the need to talk to her about it later.

"Hi, and I'm not going to call you princess. Call me Izzy." A girl says while playing with her hair.

The other girl introduced herself as Rhianna when a sudden movement gets Rue's attention. In the blink of an eye, Chaol is struggling against James that suddenly appeared from nowhere in front of Laurent.

Rue couldn't get what had happened.

"Calm down, Chaol, calm down." James says as Seth helps him restrain Chaol.

"Rhianna is not his. And she will never be." Chaol grits his teeth. "How dare he bring her here!"

Rhianna, seeing this, tries to walk away, but doesn't make it when Laurent grips her hand.

"Stay here with me." He says to her, and she relents, looking at him, probably enchanted.

Rue can see the hurt in Kate's eyes. She suddenly feels angry that Laurent is hurting Chaol and Kate. But she doesn't understand the situation and she can't judge. And it seems that Chaol has someone he loves after all. She can't help being a little jealous, but she rebukes herself. 'I'm not even his girlfriend yet.'

"Rhianna! Who do you support now? I told you not to go near him. He is a playboy, can't you see?" Chaol stands by his own now, but his veins are bulging in his fury.

"She can make her own choice, Chaol." Laurent says firmly and quickly, not letting Rhianna have the chance to speak a word. "Who stands with me? This can be a group fight, which I didn't want but you probably do."

The whole bunch of people separates into two groups.

James, Seth, Francis, Kate and Clary side with Chaol while Rhianna, Damen, Asbjorn, Sara, and Izzy side with Laurent.

Laurent's brow twitches and he inquires. "Kate?"

"What?" Kate stares back at him intensely and he gives up. She is probably mad at him for picking Rhianna over her.

"Rue." Seth and Laurent calls at the same time.

"Who do you support, princess?" Laurent asks.

Rue is confused. She isn't even here long enough to understand what is happening and yet they want her to pick sides. She feels faint and only wants to go back to the dorm right now instead of engaging in a group fight with people she don't even know.

Everyone is waiting for her to make her decision though. Everything that happened to her is stressing her so much now.

She falls into oblivion.
