There Once Was Life

I was wearing black,skinny jeans,and a white tank top,with a black leather jacket over it. My blonde hair was in a side braid,and I had mascara on. I was in my last class of the day,everyone was talking because the teacher was out of the room. So,you know how I'm supposed to help set up prom,I say to Ashley,and Dylan. Yeah,Ashley says. Well my family and I are going to Illinois,so I won't be able to,I say. It's okay just tell Mr. Wright,that you can't and I'll take your spot,Dylan says. I smile,Dylan has always been there for me when I had I problem and would fix it,and I do the same. Thanks,I tell Dylan. After I finish the power goes out. We have been having these problems for three days straight,and it won't stop,it's always this time of day. But this time there is an explosion of a house in front of the school. It happen right in front of our window,and everyone gets up and backs away to the hall. Ashley instead goes toward the window to see what happened,I run to her and pull her away just as another explosion happens. This one breaks the windows,and I push Ashley under a table and I get under a different one. Mr. Wright runs in and tells everyone to get out,we all run out and hear screaming from the elementary. I panic as Sam my brother comes running down the hall to me,there are two teachers trying to get him but I catch him in my arms. We need to have Sam,a elementary teacher says. No I tell them, I am keeping him with me,I say. Fine,they say and run down the hall to their classes. Sam,what is wrong what did you see? I ask,Dylan is sitting with me and him as I ask. I saw a big explosion,he says with tears,and I don't like the dark. It's going to be okay,it's just a blackout,Dylan tells him.

Everyone is asleep in the hall,we had to stay after school because of the explosions. I am laying on the ground with Sam in my arms,he is asleep. I sit up slowly and lay him on the ground by Ashley,and ask,can you watch him? Yeah,she says and puts her jacket on him. It's in the middle of winter,and with no power it is freezing. I walk up to Mr. Wright,with Dylan and ask, can I go get my brothers coat from the elementary? He looks at me and tells me I can but then he says,after you come back go to the teachers workroom and watch the news. Okay I say and start to walk to the elementary with Dylan.

Once we arrive at the elementary we head to his class. I remember where his class is because,the first day of school he was so nervous that I had to walk him. We walk into the room,and see the wall blown off,Dylan walks in with the sound of breaking glass under his shoes. I am about to go in too,but he puts his hand up to stop me. He points at my shoes,they are red vans,and he says,they are to thin glass will poke through. I look at his shoe's he is wearing vans too,your wearing vans too,I say. But mine are thicker,he says. He grabs my brother thick coat as he is walking back the whole sky goes dark,and we can't see anything. I grab my phone and turn on its light. Dylan starts to walk again,we hear little kids scream,and teachers trying to calm them down. I walk to a teacher and say,turn on your phone flashlight,it will calm them down. She turns it on,and all the kids go quiet. Before I go I tell them,hey guys you know I think time goes by faster if you sleep. They all look at me and lay down trying to sleep.

Wow your good with kids,Dylan says as we walk to my brother. I put the coat on him and walk to the workroom,as I do I look at Dylan. He has dark,brown eyes like me,but he has brown hair. He is wearing a shirt that says I'm stronger then what I seem,and black jeans with vans. He notices me looking at him,and blushes,I blush as he does.

We arrive at the workroom where teachers are sitting in chairs watching the news. I see as I walk in a tall building explode and fall,and thousands of people running away. I try to backup but trip over a chair,but Dylan catches my arm. The teachers look behind them and see me. Mr. Wright goes to close the door,after he does he sits me down. What the hell is going on? I ask. They have candles around the room to keep light. It seems that the world is ending,Mr Wright says. I look at Dylan and he is glaring at him. And your not letting us go home to our family's,he raises his voice. It is to dangerous,Mr. Wright says. What the hell! The world is ending if it ends I want to be with my family! I yell. Let me finish before you yell anymore,he says. The army is coming tomorrow to bring you kids to a safe zone. But I don't believe in the army,so when they get here anyone who wants to go,go's now to get away. I am not responsible for anyone that leave though,Mr Wright finishes.

Mr Wright goes out in the hall to tell everyone what he told me and Dylan. It is only eight when me and Dylan get ready to leave. Ashley said she doesn't want to leave so she is staying,but I get Sam and put his coat on. Okay Sam,we are going to leave,we're going home I tell him. Is momma going to be there? He asks. I look at Dylan hen Sam,it don't know I say. The teachers give us more coats before we go. So I put another on Sam,and one over my jacket. I give Dylan the last one,which is the biggest because he doesn't have one. Just as we are about to walk out,Mr Wright gives us a bag full of bag and says, good luck.
