There Once Was Life

Chapter 10

It is still dark and I've only been walking for a mile,two more miles to go. The heels are killing my feet but glass is everywhere. I stop for a break right as I sit down I here a truck,I am about to run to it when I see is the army. Romania told me not to trust them,she said there was something weird of they're doing. I hide behind a trashcan,but someone see's me,"hey"! "There is a woman",a soldier says. I walk out frome behind the trash can,and a man tells me to come to him. No I'm going to my..I try to think something up..families house,I say. "Your family is probably dead,now come here before I grab you",his voice starts to rise. I start walking the other way and here running behind me,I turn around and am tackled. Get off! I yell. He takes a knife and stabs me in my scar,and slices my cheek. I scream,the scar burns it feels like it's being burnt by a fire. I take my knife a stab him in the gut,he gets off and runs to his gun on the car. I turn around and sprint,I became really good at running in heels. My cheek is bleeding,but not as bad as my scar,it's like a fresh open wound,well it is.

I here gun shots and I run faster soon enough I stop,not even knowing I'm in front of the wall that leads to safety. I hear shouts,I then feel people lift me up and carry me. I don't know where but I don't care anymore.

I awake in my medical bed and try to get up,but this time my hands are tied to the bed so I won't unhook anything. I look at my scar and see it is infected again,and I can't look at my face but I can tell by the way it hurts it's going to be a scar. The nurse comes in with a tray of healthy food,she unties me and says,"please don't unhook anything,you need to heal". I nod and start to eat when she leaves,It feels amazing to have water,I wasn't out there for long but water is now a miracle.

After a few days I've healed enough to go out side and vist people. One afternoon I decide to go read outside,I go get Sam,but right as I do the intercom turns on. "Thomas,Gale,Ali,and Dylan please go to the main hall..Now". I look at Sam,"sorry Sam looks like I have a job",I hug him. Please be careful,he says as I walk away,"I will". I arrive at the main hall and they all are standing. When I enter Dylan hugs me for a long time in till we have to break it up. I know your not healed but when got to take those raiders out,Hayes has probably told them where we are. And Ali if you lived through all that horrific stuff your good to go. I put a medic on your team,and Ali is going to lead this team,she finishes.

I get a new pair of clothes and weapons,I get dressed and we all go to the gate. We walk out as Romania comes running and yells for only me to come. I walk over to her and ask "what's wrong",she hands me my phone that I though I lost. "Where did you get this"? We toke everything away from you when we found you guys,she says. We also got it to work,so call me if you need reinforcements,she says and walks away.

It is dark and we don't want to but have to turn on flashlights that are attached to the guns. There are so many crashed cars,plus so much broken glass it makes it hard to be silent. Everyone has there silence pistols out,and I also have my knife in one hand. Gale and Thomas are behind me and Dylan. We have walked for five miles so two more to go and we're there. "I'm just curious,what did Romania want you for"? Dylan asks quietly. I look at him and show him my phone,she wanted to give this to me,I say. He looks at it and says,"why it doesn't even work",he asks as he looks up at me. No she fixed it,and said to call if we need help,I say. "Oh..well okay",he says and looks in front. We walk in silence for the other two miles and when we arrive at the place we decide to sleep away for awhile before attacking.

Me and Gale go out to find something to occupy our selfs with. We find a mall a few minutes away from our campsite. I look at Gale,"wanna go in"? Sure,he says. We walk in and go up the stairs to the second level. I see a store that I loved Forever 21. I run to it and look at all the clothes,I pick up a dark blue dress and black flats and go to the changing room. I come out and twirl around in it,the dress has lace from the waist down,the top is just pure satin,there I satin under the lace too. I use to go shopping with my momma here,she would always give good advice,like at first she would say. Oh you would like this shirt,but you think that you wouldn't,but she gets it anyway. A week later your glad she did because you want it with a black pair of jeans. And that day I wore it to school,everyone literally everyone stared and said I was pretty. Ever since then I never doubted my mother's word. I sit on the bench and feel my throat burn from holding in tears,I've cried so much I just need to be strong this time. Gale sits down by me and says,"I think you look beautiful". I look at him and try to smile as I say,thank you. After I get dressed into my regular clothes,I take a pair of nice jeans and shirt for Sam. Maybe he could us them for a play date?

Me and Gale arrive back at camp,Dylan is standing against a wall on guard,and Thomas is asleep in his sleeping bag. There is no fire because there is nothing burn able,besides paper. I put the clothes in my bag and lay down where Thomas sleeps and sleep.
