"Johnny?"

"What's wrong darlin'?" Johnny looks up at me tiredly, moving over so I can lay down. I lay next to him and cuddle into his side, Johnny wrapping his arm around me almost instantly.

"There's a new guy home." I sigh, resting my head on Johnny's shoulder. Johnny sighs and kisses my forehead, making me look up at him.

We look at each other for a while, Johnny moving slightly closer. He looks at my mouth before back into my eyes, moving closer again. I move my hands to his face again, my thumb tracing over his scar. Right when we were about to kiss, Pony throws himself on top of us. I groan as Johnny pulls away from me, looking at Pony confused.

"Come on guys, we're running away." Johnny gets up and picks me up before grabbing my hand, running after Pony. We ran for about ten minutes before the boys in front of me stop, making me bump into Johnny's back. Pony starts crying as I lean against the fence, trying to catch my breath before we start running again.

"Golly Pony, we'll be alright, man. Just cool it." He slaps his hand on Pony's shoulder.

"You got a cigarette, Johnny? I'm scared man."

"Don't be man, you're scaring me." I smile at what Johnny said before hugging Pony.

"What happened." I ask, standing next to Johnny and running my hands over my arms.

"Darry hit me. We got along just fine till mom and dad died." I glance at Johnny before looking at Pony, Pony lighting his cancer stick.

"I think I like it better when the old man's hittin me. At least he knows I'm there."my heart aches at what Johnny says, Johnny lighting his cigarette.

"Come on guys, let's walk to the park. Maybe I'll cool off enough to go home." I wrap my arm around Johnny's as we start walking, making small talk with each other the whole walk.

"Ain't you about to freeze to death?" Johnny asks, Pony rubbing his bare arms.

"You ain't a-woffin'." I roll my eyes at his saying, letting go of Johnny's arm. I ran towards the little jungle gym they have and climb on top of it, hearing Johnny laugh at me. I look around and notice the same car from a few nights ago driving around. The boys climb up next to me, Johnny asking Pony if he has a light. I hand Johnny a lighter before Pony could, watching out for the car. It turns into the park and I grab onto Johnny, Pony awkwardly sitting in the middle of us.

"Look what's coming, this is our territory."

"Bet they're looking for us." Johnny mumbles, putting my lighter in his pocket. I didn't care, since I have a lot more to worry about right now than a lighter. "Wanna split?"

I nod at the same time Pony says, "Stay cool." I roll my eyes and jump down from the little bar I was sitting on, taking a few steps towards them.

"Well, well, well, what do you guys know?" the soc walks closer to me and I smile, tilting my head to the side.

"It's that guy with the rings man," I hear Johnny whisper to Pony as the socs all stare at us.

"Aren't these the greasers that tried to pick up our woman?" I roll my eyes at him, the guys still not paying attention to me. I can hear Johnny begging for me to move back, but I don't.

"They weren't trying to pick up your woman."

"Who's this?" he looks at me and I already want to punch him.

"I'm Violet. Can you please leave my friends alone?" I pout, the guy smiling and taking a step towards me. I stand my ground and cross my arms, Johnny still pleading for me to move back.

"No can do, princess."

"Don't call me that."

"Why, princess?"

"Only my close friend calls me that,"

"Whatever."

"You guys are out of your territory, you better watch it," Johnny says and I cringe, but smile at him standing up for himself.

"No you better watch it, pal." The other one says, making me roll my eyes. The focus goes back to the one with the rings, who I think is named Bob.He takes a drink from his flask, staring us down again. Johnny and Pony get down from the jungle gym, staying where they were, but Johnny pulls me back.

"You know what greasers are? White trash with long, greasy hair." He throws some alcohol at Pony, Johnny and I flinching. The socs laugh, making me roll my eyes as Pony thinks of a good comeback.

"You know what Socs are? White trash with mustangs and Madras." wow, great comeback Pony. That will show 'em for sure. He spits on them and they all start running towards us. We start running away, Pony yelling at us to run the other way. Johnny being Johnny trips, bringing me down with him. Two socs grab us and drag us over a little, dropping Johnny and kicking him.

I scream as loud as I could, for Johnny, for Pony, for all of the greasers. I didn't try to fight back, I was scared they would hurt Johnny again. The guy who was holding me took me away from Johnny, away from all the splashing to the other side of the park. He practically body slammed me to the ground, causing me to groan and turn over.

His hand finds it's place on my throat, pushing down on it as hard as he could. I kinda wanted to ask him if that's all he's got, but after I thought about it I realize I definitely don't want that to be the last thing I say. Each time there was a splash, he would push harder on my throat until I passed out.

--

"No, no,no, no, please be alive. I can't lose you darlin'." Someone keeps shaking me, making me groan and open my eyes. Johnny's glossy eyes widen as he smiles, squeezing me as tight as he could as he hugged me.

"Johnny, little too tight," I cough and he lets go of me, holding onto my hand. I sat up and looked around at where I was, Johnny taking his hand out of mine when I see the dead body in front of me. I gasp at the same time Pony wakes up, Johnny trembling terribly next to me. He was holding his knife, looking absolutely terrified.

"I killed him. I killed that boy. I killed him." His hands were bloody, and when I looked at mine, mine were too. I look at the body again, blood still trickling out of his mouth.

"Johnny, I think I'm gonna be sick,"

"Go ahead, I ain't gonna look at you." Pony runs to the merry-go-round as I stare at the knife in Johnny's hand. My best friend is a killer. He was crying and shaking, refusing to look at me. I went to wipe a tear away, but he gets up and limps away from me before I could. I quickly follow the boy, making sure not to let him step in the blood. When the cops got here, they could look at the shoe prints. Of course the Socs have better shoes than the greasers, so they would be able to tell who did it. I was not going to let Johnny get arrested. I'll take the blame.

"You alright?" Johnny asks, looking at the both of us.

"You really did kill him, huh, Johnny?" Pony was shaking just as bad as us, maybe even worse. I went to take my cover up off to give him, but he shakes his head as he starts crying.

"Yeah." Johnny kneels down on the ground, picking up dirt. "I had to. They might have killed you. They almost killed Violet. They were gonna beat me up." He starts cleaning off his blade as I rub my neck, wincing at the bruises.

"What happened to the other boys?"

"They-they- they all ran. They all ran off after I stabbed him." He starts shaking even harder as he takes a deep breath. I wipe the tears off my face as crouch next to him. I hug him with all my might, rubbing his back as he cried into my sore neck.

"Come on, I have an idea."
