"Johnny man, you don't know what a few months in jail can do to you, man. You get mean in jail, and I just don't wanna see that happen to you like it happen to me." Dally says, sighing as we all stay quite. After we sat in silence for a while, I hear children screaming.

"Do you hear that?"

"Yeah." Johnny says, looking towards the church. We all look and say something about it as Dally drives towards it. Before the car comes to a stop I jump out, running as fast as my legs will carry me to the church. I hear Johnny scream after me with pure fear in his voice. I heard the guy say children were in there, and I ran faster into the church. Pony follows me and tries to kick the door in, Johnny running up and throwing a rock through the window.

"Is that guy coming?" Pony asks from behind me as I tie back my hair, making sure it's puffiness won't cause it to set on fire.

"No." Johnny says in the back and I cringe. I don't want Johnny or Pony in here, they might get hurt. I know they won't let me come in here by myself, and they won't go back out, so I just have to pray to whatever is up there and hope for the best.

"Too scared?"

"Too fat." I answer, following the screaming. There was about five of them, so we should be out in no time. Dally breaks the wall next to us so it's easier for us to get the kids out. There was more screaming from another room, so we basically threw the kids at Dally and went to the next room.

"Take the kid, Dally!"

"Johnny get out of there!"

"Johnny, please get out of here, I don't want you to get hurt." I say as I hand Dally another kid, Johnny shaking his head at me and picking up another kid.

"Pony, take him. Give him to Dally." Johnny was smiling as he hands Pony the little boy. Dally lifts me through the window right after Pony, and I look around for Johnny. Dallas was screaming as he threw himself on Pony's arm, and I looked between him and the church. I had to go back.

Before Dally says anything I ran back into the church just as the roof fell in. I watch as a beam hits Johnny's back, making me scream and lunge for him. He was wincing as I start crying.

"Darlin', please don't cry." Johnny says weakly as I try to get the beam up. It was burning my hand but I couldn't feel like compared to the pain I was feeling for Johnny.

"Johnny, you're literally trapped under a beam, I'm gonna cry." He smiles before passing out with a scream. I start struggling even more as I cry harder, holding the beam up and trying to get him out. Dally shows up and holds it as I grab Johnny and carry him out, crying even harder as the ambulances came. They took the boy from my arms quickly, putting him face down on a stretcher.

"Please let me go with him,"

"No can do miss, sorry."

"No you don't understand! Please."

"Do you have any close relation with this boy?"

"I'm his girlfriend. Please." The girl sighs and let's me go in the back with Johnny, Dally jumping in right after me.

"Pony's already gone," Dally says breathlessly as he looks at Johnny, then looking at me. I had a hand over my mouth to keep my sobs in, but it wasn't really working.

"Princess, he's gonna be okay." His voice softens as he looks at my state, pulling me into him as I cry. I was too scared to say anything at first, but after a while I could manage to get some words out between my cries.

"I love him, so much, Dally. He's my life."

"I know, doll, I know. He loves you too. I promise." He smooths down my hair, taking the hair-tie out and wrapping my hair around his fingers. The actually made Dally get on a stretcher too as they flipped Johnny over and putting him under a breathing mask. I follow behind Dallas, smiling when I see Pony. It was good to see him okay, and I was even happy to see the guy next to him.

"You ever pull a stunt like that again, I'll kill you. Both of you." I roll my eyes and stop in front of Pony, who was covered in ash.

"Pony." I smile and he looks up at me, smiling and standing up to hug me. I was still kinda crying as we hugged, but I pulled away from him as I saw Soda walking towards us.

"Ponyboy!" Soda says happily and Pony whips around, running towards his brother. He hugs Soda with all his might as Darry walks in. "Aw look at your tuff hair!" He runs his hand through Pony's hair, Pony groaning and myself giggling. I was inching towards them slowly so I wasn't alone with that one guy, frowning when I see Darry wipe his eyes.

"Darry, I'm sorry." Pony runs towards him and hugs him, Soda joining in as a few tears escape my eyes.

"Pony I thought we lost you like we did mom and dad." Darry starts crying harder as Soda un-wraps his arms from Pony, looking at me and motioning me forward.

"Come on kid, you're family too." I sniff and run towards Soda, hugging him so hard I almost knocked him over. Soda treated me better than my mom did, and I haven't talked to my dad in years. I couldn't bring myself to it. My dad reminds me of Darry, but he moved away a while back. He had to move a few towns over, but I can't talk to him. Knowing what my mom has done to him, I can't. Darry pulls us into his hug with Pony, making happy tears fall from my face.

This was my family, I don't care what anyone says. My mom isn't my family, the Curtis brothers are. The whole gang is my family, besides Johnny. Johnny was more than that. He was the light of my life, and he means a lot more to me than any silly little flings.

Johnny Cade is the love of my life. I will shout it from the rooftops, and I'm going to tell him today.

"Guys, I think I wanna tell Johnny I love him. Right now." Before I could say anything else, Soda pushes me towards Johnny's room.
