It was strange how quickly and easily I adapted to my new life at the school. I was free to do anything I wanted at anytime really. Other than maybe when I was scheduled to work with the Professor which was every couple days. I ended up spending most of my time in the library, it was by far my favorite room in the house. Hundreds of books lined the walls anywhere from some really old history texts to modern day sci-fi action novels.
There wasn't any real librarian on duty but different teachers took turns taking care of the position. Ororo was my favorite out of them, Jean was nice to but she didn't seem to trust me exactly and was always looking over my shoulder. Logan was the worst librarian ever, period. He didn't know were anything was and he always seemed bothered when asked.
I enjoyed the the space anyways. There were tables set up for studying and computers along the wall but I generally sat in the back in one of the more comfortable arm chairs. It was a cozy little sitting corner in the back blocked by a book shelf so I wasn't on display for the rest of the room. A lamp stood in the corner but the huge window set between the two armchair provided more than enough light. I was currently half way through the third Harry Potter book.
"Guess I shouldn't be surprised to find you in a place like dis." Remy's warm voice chuckled as he dropped down into the arm chair next to me. "Storm said dis is were you like to be."
"It's cozy." I murmured shifting in my seat, my legs were starting to fall asleep. "And I love to read."
"Not just comics?" He teased.
"No." I grinned back. "All though there is a large selection of those here too."
"Is there?" He asked, his voice sounding genuinely surprised.
"Yeah which is surprisingly because you don't even have any of the new best-sellers like Maze Runner or the Martian or anything from Cassandra Clare." I said slightly ranting. "I was really enjoy this one series but there is no second book. But there is a third and a fourth."
"The librarian has to order new books." He stated.
"What librarian?" I frowned in response.
"Exactly." He answered. "Ever since he quit, it's kinda been whoever draws the short straw takes de responsibilities."
"You should hire another one." I huffed.
"Are you looking for a job?" He asked cocking an eyebrow at me. "The Professor only hires mutants, not to discriminate or anything, but for safety reasons for de kids. Dere isn't exactly a long list of mutants looking to be librarians, cheré."
"Yeah, I didn't think about that." I sighed slightly embarrassed.
"But maybe I can help you a bit." He offered. "I'm going into town, we can stop by de bookstore and you can get your book. And den maybe get something to eat at one of the local dinners?"
"You wouldn't mind if I tagged along?" I asked still stuck on the getting the second book part of his offer.
"Not at all." He said.
"I'd love too." I agreed.
"Great." He said patting the arm rests and standing up. "It's a date then." He grinned turning away from me and starting to walk away. Wait. What? "I'll get you around seven." He called over his shoulder.
A date? When did I agree to that? You did say you'd love to go with him but does that really count. Oh god, what did I get myself into. Closing my book, I hurried back to my room checking the time on my clock. It was only five twenty which gave me plenty of time to get ready, I wasn't the kind of girl that took forever.
