Eli's P.O.V.
The Day AfterI didn't see Remy the next morning. Not because I was avoiding him but because he wasn't around. I ended up spending most of the day with Ororo who was walking me through different responsibilities that came with being a librarian. Then after I met with the Professor again to try to get even an electric current under my skin. A small part of me worried that my powers were gone forever, but the fact they acted up yesterday quelled the fear slightly.
I was in the same position as yesterday, my legs crossed under me sitting on the mat in the concrete room. It was made mostly of materials that didn't carry an electric current and there for made it safer for any one in the room. The Professor stood, well sat, off to the side of the room so not to disturb my concentration. After a little while without the slightest bit of success he suggested we stop for today.
"Actually, if you wouldn't mind I would like to try by myself for a little while." I asked turning towards him. "Unless you need the room..."
"No you are free to use the room as you like." He said cautiously. "But I would suggest not trying anything extensive."
"I won't, I just kind of want to meditate on it, I guess?" I grinned awkwardly back at him. "I was so use to just feeling it, even when it was harmlessly under my skin."
He nodded, telling me to call him back if I needed him. Otherwise, he left me in my silence as I went back to... well meditating. Something that I was really bad at because my attention kept drifting to my conversation with Scott yesterday. Then to Remy and our kind of date. Ugh, why do things have to be so complicated! I hit my hands against the floor in frustration feeling the familiar zing of electricity.
I looked down at my hands in shock lifting them closer to my face. A few sparks still danced across my finger before disappearing under my skin. There was still a faint feeling underneath my skin and I stopped for a second. Could it be? I started thinking about it again, bring up images from my memory and the sensation came back stronger. The door to the room open and I turned caught off guard.
"Eli?" Remy's familiar voice asked. But before I could say anything, the burning sensation under my skin grew until it exploded upwards. The lights that were in the room exploded causing a shower of sparks to rain down. Remy swore under his breath quickly striding towards me trying to shield me with his body from the sparks. They were mainly harmless, hissing as the hit the concrete ground.
"What do you think you are doing?!" I snapped pushing him away from me and jumping to my feet. We were plunged into darkness until there was a whiring sound and spare lights flashed on. I blinked, letting my eyes adjust.
"Trying ta protect you, what do you think?" He asked his face looking genuinely shocked and confused at my hostility.
"From what, the sparks? Remy I can manipulate electricity it doesn't hurt me!" I snapped at him. "You could have burnt yourself!"
"Well, I'm sorry for being worried about you." He defended.
"I can take care of myself." I hissed the tingle returning my palms.
"I didn't say you couldn't." He said lightly holding up his hands in surrender. "I just didn't want you get get hurt." He reached forward to touch my shoulder and I leaned back.
"You really don't want to do that right now." I warned and he let his hand drop in response. "I just want to be alone." I said walking past him, giving him a wide berth so as not to accidentally bump into him.
"I'm sorry for what ever I did to really piss you off!" He said loudly and I turned around narrowing my eyes at him. "So why don't you just tell me what it is?" The louder and more angrily he spoke the more his words became heavily accented. I rolled my eyes turning on my heel and walking out.
