Chapter 16

"I can't believe its already the last day!" Christina sighs, throwing her clothes into her suitcase. To be honest, I am also quite disappointed. That was too fast.
"But one really good thing came out of this." Marlene says, smiling at me.
"And that is?" I ask.
"You finally have a boyfriend!" Christina says happily.
"I am so happy for you." Marlene smiles yet again.
My face turns beet red. "Thanks guys."
"Girls! Are you all done? We have to leave!" I hear Uriah's muffled voice outside the door.
"Yeah we are! Just wait!" Chris replies.
"Let's go!" Marlene says.
Honestly, I am scared to go back and face life.

"We're here." I say to the girls beside me. Christina sighs.
"It felt like it was so short." She says.
"I guess that's what fun feels like." I smile.
The others took a different route than the 3 of us. They somehow got extra baggage than what they brought to the trip. Shopping, maybe? So they needed a whole vehicle to bring it. So I ended up calling my mom to pick the three of us up.
We walk into the house as we talk.
"How was the trip, dear?" My mom asks me.
"It was more amazing than I would ever imagine." I smile. Christina and Marlene wriggle their eyebrows.
"I am glad it was, dear." My mom smiles at me. "I leave you 3 to it then."
We go to my room and plop down on the bed.
"Girls, I have something to tell you all." Marlene says.
"You have our attention, Mar." Chris says.
"It's Starlight Live." She says.
"Huh? What's that?" Chris asks.
"You don't know?" She says. We both shake our heads.
"How can you not know?! Its like the most popular concert ever, meant for just school idols! It happens yearly! I never missed a concert! I wonder when the tickets are going to sale..." She says.
"Wait, tickets going for sale? Marlene, now that we are school idols as well, we...we are..." I trail off. Are we even capable? Chris gasps.
"We will be expected to perform!" Marlene screeches.
"Noooo!" Chris screams.
"We are new! How can we...!" I trail off, yet again.
"Can we even do it?" I ask.
Marlene's phone beeps.
"The production crew of the concert just released the list on who are performing!" Marlene says, nervous.
"Read it! Read it!" Chris yells at her.
"First one, A-RISE." She says. "Then its, Mutant Girls, CYA ron, Printemps, uh, and a few other groups I don't know..."
She continues scrolling through her phone when she suddenly gasps.
"No! No! This is impossible! How can we be so popular already?!" She screams.
"Marlene, what is it?" I ask, my throat dry.
"The 9th team..." She trails off.
"9th team? What about the 9th team?" Chris asks.
"Its..us." She says, quietly. "Muse..."
I feel like someone is stirring my insides with a fork. How could they put us in there?
"What? No!" Chris screams.
"We will be competing against...A-RISE. The top school idol there is nationwide..." She trails off. My heart beats painfully in my chest as I try to process what I just heard. Us..amateurs? Against an idol group with nationwide popularity? It seems impossible.
"First we have get past 2 preliminary rounds, then it will actually be the final concert...Starlight Live." Marlene explains."Can we really do it?"
I stay quiet, not knowing what to say.
"Yes you can." I hear my mom's voice behind me.
"Mom?"I call, turning to face her.
"You all have the talent, I have seen it. All three of you are aspiring to be great idols one day anyway. So why not let this be a good experience?" She asks. I think about what she just said. Are we really capable?
"It doesn't matter whether you are capable or not. Only whether you want to or you don't." She says.
Do I want to? Do I want to? Yes, I want to.
I turn to my friends with a confident smile.
"Girls, we are taking part in Starlight Live." I say.
"Really?" Marlene asks.
"Yes." I hold my hand out. "Together."
They look at each other. They look at me.
"Yes." They take my hand. "We will do it."
