CHAPTER 3 ─ She's Sick

Persephone's POV •

What is going on? Why is everything all black? It's pitch black in here. Nothing else but me. I tried yelling out for help but it came out like a whisper since nobody else is here.

Wait.. I hear something. It's a bit muffled. Then I see a light. It's far from me.. but I insisted on walking towards it. I'm afraid of the dark and the best remedy is to walk to the light.

Each time I walk towards it, I walk faster and faster without me trying to walk faster. Like it's automatic. Then I suddenly zoomed to the light and I opened my eyes. I don't know how but I did and a doctor is infront of me. It's blurry but I can see. The doctor's face is blurry but I can tell he's a doctor by what he's wearing.

"Persephone." His deep voice spoke up. I tried to speak but it came out as a groan. "Persephone?" He said. "What.. happened..?" I muttered. My eyes adjusted to the light and now I can see clearly. I looked around and I was lying on a hospital bed. The doctor has a pen and a pad paper with him.

Dextrose attached on my right hand. There's a thumping on the back of my head. And my eyes hurts. Not just my eyes, but the whole upper part of my face where my eyes are. There's a stinging sensation.

"Ms. Persephone Edwards. I'm going to ask you a few questions and we'll see if you're okay." He spoke up. I nodded in response. "And I'll also explain what happened after." He added.

"But first, you would want to see your appearance." He said and grabbed the mirror. He handed them to me and I grabbed it. I slowly placed it in front of my face and my eyes grew wide.

I had scratches on my eyes. That's why it hurts. I also had a bandage around my head. What the hell happened and they had to put bandage on my head?

"Okay, I can tell you already know your name. So let's start." He said and I placed the mirror down. "What year is it?" He asked.

"What?" I asked. "What year is it?" He asked slowly. "Uhh.. 2011." I answered. "Correct. What is your full name?" He asked again. "Persephone Lois Duffy Edwards."

"Your mother's name?"

"Debby."

"Your father?"

"Alexander."

"Your siblings?"

"Perrie, Jonnie, and Caitlin."

"Okay.. Then I guess you're fine now. But do you know where you are right now?" He asked. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. I'm in a hospital right? Where else would I be?

"Uhh.. In the hospital..?" I asked unsure. He looked down and shut his eyes. "You're in a mental hospital." He said and opened his eyes. My eyes grew wide.

"What..? Wh-why would I-.. Why would I be..? Mental hospital?" I stuttered. "That's not a question for me to answer. I'll be back or some doctor for more questions." He said and got up. He left the room, leaving me alone for a while.

I started tearing up. Everything becomes blurry from the tears stuck in my eyes. Why would they send me to a mental hospital? Am I sick? I know I'm not sick. I know for myself I'm not sick!

"Ms. Persephone Edwards?" I looked up and saw a nurse from the door. "It's time for the interview?" She said. Interview? Why would I need to go into an interview?

I stood up and walked towards her, along with my dextrose stand. She led me to a room and when I entered, nobody was there. The nurse told me to sit on the white chair and in front of me was a weird looking machine.
