Scarlet Age 14
"I swear it sire, it was sorcery. I would not lie to you, the smoke was alive." the woman pleads. I glance over at Morgana. I'm aware of her powers, one day I accidentally revealed mine to her and she comforted me saying she believes she has the same, which is terrifying for both of us.
"Thank you, your loyalty will not go unrewarded I can assure you that much." My father says. The woman smiles gratefully and is escorted out of the room.
"I'll hunt down the ones responsible father, I promise." Arthur speaks. "No Arthur, stronger methods are called for. Send for the witchfinder."
My breath hitches in my throat. The witchfinder never fails at snooping out magic.
Father dismisses the court and everyone leaves.

I pace around Morgana's chambers, fear racing through me. "If they find out, I'm going to die. They will kill me. If father doesn't, Aredian will do it himself." I panic.
"Scarlet- Scarlet!" Morgana places a hand on my shoulder. "He won't find out. Now hush up, he's here." I feel my heart drop down to my stomach.
Morgana and I look out the window. An intimidating man dressed in black hops off of his horse. "T-the cage? What's it for?" I ask, already knowing the answer. Morgana closes her curtain. "I'm sure we'll be okay, as long as we don't show any sign of our abilities."
It sounds easy, but here lately my magic has been keeping me awake, I've had nightmares, none of which are important, but they still scare the life out of me causing accidents to happen. The other day I accidentally broke a glass that was on my bedside table. I take a deep breath in and breathe out. "I hope so."
As I make my way down the hall to where my father and brother are, I sense there's someone following me causing me to speed up.
"Why in such a hurry Princess?" I freeze dead in my tracks, slowly turning around to come face to face with a man dressed in black. The Witchfinder.
I put on a smile. "I was just going to see my father and brother." I feel the bile rising in my throat. "Why are you nervous child?" He glares down at me. Surely he wasn't suspecting me was he? Why would anyone suspect the king, who has outlawed magic for 14 years, had a daughter with magic? The thing that has been giving me hope of keeping my secret all these years.
"I've just not been feeling well recently, I think I have a cold maybe."
"Hm, a cold you say?" The man circles around me. "You don't look very sick, perhaps it's in the early stages. Have you talked to Gaius about it? Wouldn't want you getting too sick now would we?" I shake my head. "No sir, I believe my father is expecting us, we better go." I turn around and quickly walk away before realizing how rude it was of me to leave so quick. If he didn't suspect me before he sure does now.
As I walk through the doors the the throne room I find my brother and father leaning over the table. Before they say anything Aredian pipes up. "Can you smell it? Camelot is plagued with magic, Uther."
"I welcome you to Camelot."
The witchfinder nods. "Let us hope that I'm not too late." He walks over to my father. "Magic spreads like a disease, infecting the old, and the young." He turns to look at me. My heart stops and I bite my lip. "the weak and the able, the fair and the unjust," he continues looking at my brother and father. Maybe he isn't on to me, maybe it's just a coincidence. "Uther, you're allowing Camelot to grow weak, the sorcery that acts here is strong, making your beloved kingdom rotten."
