Chapter 5
"Bismillah", Jannah and I said as we entered the musallah. I looked around to find a spot to perform my sunnahs. I found a spot and I quickly began with "Allahu Akbar".
After we had finished my sunnahs the both of us sat down and read the Quran for a little bit. Finally the imam had started the salaat. "Allahu Akbar".
Tomorrow would be Eid Al- Adha mashallah and I just couldn't wait!
-------------------------------------
"Ameen get up, or we're going to be late. Hurry!!!", I say shaking my brother out of his sleep. He sits up and he runs his eyes. "What happened?", he groaned. "Today is Eid!", I say happily. He looks at me then he shrugs. "Ok, what time is it?". I look at his bedside desk and I see that it's 4:56am. "It's about five in the morning", I tell him. He sighs then he gets out if bed. "I wish that sometime you didn't come in my room in the morning being so annoying", he moans heading to the bathroom. "You are soooo dead in the morning", I laugh as he bumps into a wall. He groans while rubbing his head.
"Jalilah, are you and Ameen up?", my abi yells up the stairs. "Yeah pretty much", I yell back. I head back to my bedroom so that I can get ready with my things.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"Eid Mubarak!!", Jannah says running up to hug me. "Same to you", I say. "I got some presents for your ummi and you", she says with a smile. A smile appears on my face. "Aww how sweet, mashallah", I say pulling her into another hug. "Salaamu Alaykum Jannahti. Eid Mubarak", my ummi says coming over to hug Jannah then I. "Eid Kareem Jalilah", Umm Jannah says. I give her a hug then I walk up to random sisters that my ummi knows but I don't know. "Salaamu Alaykum, Eid Mubarak", I say. "Wa Alaykum Salaam. Eid Kareem", they say back.
A lot of sisters were giving each other eid gifts alhamdulilah. "Can I get an Eid hug?", A little girl asked looking up at me. She looked to be about four years old and I have never seen her around the masjid. "Awww how cute", I say bending down to hug her. She hugs me back with a smile. "Jazakallahu Khayran", she says with a smile skipping off. Jannah appears at my side scanning the sisters faces. "I see that you have met Dulamah's little sister", she says. "What? that cute sweet little girl is his sister. You're kidding me", I say. "Nope".
"Usually she's inside if the house. She doesn't really like being outside...well... after their family incident that occurred a few years ago", she says. "What happened?", I asked. "A man came up to their home robbed them then he killed the mother in front of them both in their driveway. That was two and a half years ago". I shake my head sadly. "That's a shame, the poor child is motherless", I whisper.
"Yep, and fatherless too", Jannah says. "Well what happened to the father then?", I asked. "Oh, he got depressed and he ran away. We had just finally got in contact with him... he should be here for the wedding. He's all the way in Saudi remarried", she says. I gasp and hake my head disapprovingly. "What's the little girls name?", I ask. "Ayah But everyone calls her Ayat Her nickname I guess".
I feel so bad. I feel like I should be getting beat then thrown into a freaking well. Gosh why do I feel this way on Eid? Am I crazy? yes I am.
A few minutes later my ummi rushes back over to us and tell us that we have to go. We are going to go and see if the boys are ready to go. "Is Ayah is she ready to go?", I ask. "I'll go get her", Jannah says running off to find her foster sister.
I follow my ummi and Umm Jannah outside of the crowded Musallah. We head to our Suburban instead of the car. We had brought the suburban while the boys drove in the car. "Please go and see if Qasim Ameen is ready", my ummi said. I poked my head around the brother side and there was tons of brothers. I say Ameen and I whistled out to him. "Ate Ameen Akhi, some sis is whistling to you", a brother said. Ameen looked up and I waved him over. He got up and walked over to me. "Eid Mubarak", he said. "Same to you". "Hey listen, wwe're leaving and ummi said to tell abi to come on. The place is about to open", I say. "Is Dulamah going? and Jannah's abi?", he asked. "Yeah,...i think... just go and get them", I say. He leaves away from me and heads back into the crowded section.
I stand there awkwardly and wait for him to hurry the hell up. I know it's Eid and I'm trying my best not to curse but hey, sometimes it slips.
Just as I am turning to see what is taking so long, a brother smashed into me making me curse. "Shit, what the hell!", I say holding my head and rubbing my sore arm at the same time. "Sorry I didn't see you", the manly deep voice says. The voice sounds familiar. I look up and it's Dulamah, my futility husband. He doesn't have his covering on. He wearing a cream colored thoub, a black kufi, and a black, light brown and cream kufiyyah. I glare at him and he looks away from me.
"Are you okay?", he asks. I don't reply". He asks me again and I snap. "Do you see blood? no harm done you ass hole", I say stomping away from him. I have completely messed up my Eid with my foul language and for that I feel very bad. Allah forgive.
I curse under my breath as I make my way over to where my ummi, Umm Jannah, Jannah and where the cutest little girl Ayah is. "Dulamah are you ready? I want to have some fun!", the little girl says with a smile. I look confused then I spin around. That's when I notice that he was behind me.
He doesn't look at me, instead Ge picks up his little sister then kisses her on the cheek. He leans over to kiss Umm Jannah then Jannah herself. Ameen runs up to me and kisses my forehead. I push him back roughly and he tries to kiss my cheek this time.
"Ameen, leave Jalilah alone", my abi says approaching us. "Salaamu alaykum love", he says kissing my ummi. "Wa alaykum salaam you", she say hugging him tightly.
Umm Jannah smiles and my abi now notices her. "Salaamu Alaykum Umm Jannah", he says. She returns the salaams with a smile then she runs up to her husband to hug and kiss him. I turn to look around the parking lot and that's when I notice that this whole time Dulamah's eyes were focused on me. What was this creep looking at? I wondered. "Us everyone ready?", Abu Jannah asked. We all nodded then we hopped into our cars.
This should be fun...
