Chapter 38
Nobody's POV
Dulamah was nervous, anxious and scared when Dr. Naimah told her that she needed to push. Dulamah and Jalilah's mother was the only ones allowed in the room with her.
Her father Yahya had placed a camera in the room because Jalilah had asked for him to get everything on tape. Including the birth.
"On the count of three you have to push", Dr. Naimah said. Jalilah nodded. "One, two, three PUSH!!!!", she yelled. Jalilah pushed then stopped out of breath.
"This is too hard", she cried. "I'm never having sex again", she added. Her mother laughed.
Just as they were about to push for the second time Jalilah had a contraction. "Holy mother-", her ummi cuts her off. "Don't you dare Lila", she said. "SHUT UP!!", she yelled as the contractions cane worse.
"I hate you", she said hitting Dulamah. He didn't say anything. "IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!", she screamed at the top of her lungs after pushing again. Nothing happened. The baby wouldn't move at all.
Jalilah was getting frustrated and so was Dulamah. "My fault?", he asked. "I didn't force you to have sex. It was a choice Jalilah", he said to her. "I hate you", she sobbed. "I hate this", she cried.
He released her hand from his hold and looked at her. "Dulamah don't worry about what she's saying. Almost every pregnant woman that goes into labor says this so don't worry about it", Jalilah's mom Sawdah says.
Dr. Naimah asks Jalilah if she's ready again and she shakes her head no. "I can't do this", she cried. "Yes you can", Dulamah said to her. "NO THE HELL I CAN'T!!!!", she screamed while hitting him.
Umm Jalilah placed her daughters hands by her side. "Look at me", her mother said in a calm voice. Jalilah who was drenched in sweat turned to look at her mother in a pained expression.
"You can do this Lila, and you will do it InShaAllah. He'll be out before you know it", she says. Tears leaks out onto Jalilah's cheeks. "I can't", she sobbed. "You can. Now.....PUSH!!!", Dr. Naimah said.
Jalilah pushed feeling so sore. She screamed and cried as she pushed. Dr. Naimah madw her get off of the bed. "I want you to squat she said to Jalilah. Dulamah held her as she squatted down.
She pushed and Dr. Naimah exclaimed that she saw the head of the baby. "Come on Jalilah one more push", she said. "AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!", Jalilah screamed and she felt the baby come out.
Dr. Naimah held him in her arms waiting for the cord to come out as well. When it came out she took him away.
"Jalilah fell out onto Dulamah crying from the pain. "You did it baby", he said kissing her. The baby cried loudly. Dr. Naimah handed the baby over to Dulamah who stood and raised the baby's ear to his mouth. He called the Athan in the baby's ear loudly.
Afterwards he kissed the baby then tried handing the baby to Jalilah who refused. "Please don't", she cried.
Dulamah stared at her and kissed her head. He handed the baby back to Dr. Naimah and she went to weigh him and everything else.
Fifteen minutes later she exclaimed that he was fifteen pounds and six ounces.
"What?", Dulamah asked. "He's fifteen pounds and six ounces", she said again. Jalilah cried much more now. "That was torture", she cried.
Dulamah kissed her lips to shut her mouth but she pushed him away. "Can I hold him?", umm Jalilah asked. Dr. Naimah handed the baby to umm Jalilah.
"MaShaAllah", she said.
Jalilah closed her eyes and fell out.
