Uneasy

The Blame Game

Keshawn didn't talk to anybody at all when he got home. He just stayed up in his room and thought about what Kaya said. "Was she trying to say the baby was ...mines?" Keshawn thought.

His emotions were bottled up inside and he couldn't help but still love Daniya. He had a flash of the way he's been treating her and that maybe that's what she was trynna tell him at school. He smirked at the thought that the baby maybe was his. But then it faded when he thought about everything he had said to her. Something else was on his mind that he had kept a secret this whole time along with Kaya. Now he couldn't help but feel like the bad guy.

Nicole burst into Keshawn's room. "You been in here aw quiet .you okay?" She asked.

He nodded slowly as if he was unsure. Nicole sighed as she closed the door behind her. She sat next to him on his bed.

"Shawn your my son so I know when your lying to me and I know we been bumping heads lately but you can always talk to me." Nicole said.

Keshawn remained silent for a second. "Momma you remember when daddy use to beat up on you real bad?" Keshawn said looking up at her. Nicole was caught off guard of the question.

"Yeah I remember." Nicole answered.

"I would always try to protect you from and I always feared losing you." Keshawn said.

Nicole kissed his cheek. "That's why I left before it got that bad but well never have to see him ever again in life." Nicole said smiling at Keshawn.

"Yeah but I know where he is...in jail." Keshawn said.

"Yeah I would hope." Nicole said standing to her feet.

"No I know for sure he's in jail." Keshawn replied looking into his mothers eyes.

"How would you know that Keshawn?" Nicole asked with an irritated look.

"He killed Daniya's momma." Keshawn mumbled.

Nicole flopped back down in aww. "Keshawn just because his name was John doesn't mean that it was your father john." Nicole said.

"Yeah except for me and Kaya saw him at school when we first moved over here." Keshawn said with hurt in his face.

Flashback:

He was beating up on Daniya in front of Kaya and Kaya screamed for him to get off of her. I walked up to see what was going on because Kaya looked worried but not a normal worried like a shocked scared face. I didn't get why she was in so much shock until I saw that it was John hitting Daniya. Our dad but he didn't look like our old dad. He looked strung out and sick.

He didn't even recognize us. At least I don't think. I started fighting him so he could get off of Daniya. Some guards took him out of the school and I wasn't suspended because I was just helping Daniya. Me and Kaya decided to keep it to ourselves.

"Keshawn why would you keep this from me?" Nicole asked.

"I don't know I just wanted to forget I ever saw him and it never felt like the right time to say anything." Keshawn responded.

"When the police came they never said a name they just said said she was murdered and stuff like it was somebody she was involved with." Nicole said with watery eyes.

Keshawn didn't say a word. "Keshawn you have to tell Daniya and Lauren."

"Ma." Keshawn said with a look of worry.

"You owe it to them." Nicole said. Kaya burst through the door. "We bout to have movie night." Kaya said with a smile.

Nicole looked angry and sad at the same time. Keshawn looked at Kaya with a worried look.
