Chapter Eleven: Pink Tie
The rest of the day went by fast. The two periods I had left were Math and English. I've always been good in both of those subjects and thankfully are the same here as they were in New York.
In those classes, I made a few friends. Bellona and Phoebe are in my math class with Erica, Katie, and Olivia, while Olivia, Dax, Conrad, Jeremiah, Trevor, Darian, Ace, Adonis, Elias, and Paris are all together in English.
After he kissed my cheek earlier I haven't been able to look at him. I have been kissed before just not like that. Not with those tingles. It was like an electric current flowed through me. I need to get it out of my damn head is what I need to do.
In math I talked to all of the girls while in English I just stared ahead at the teacher. She was pretty. Very slender, yet tall with dark auburn hair and blue eyes. She occasionally glanced at me every now and then. Smiling each time she did. I was paying attention to everything she said so I wouldn't let my head turn to look at my so called partner.
I sat near Olivia, Dax, Ace, and Pasris. Darian was sitting a few rows away trying to get my attention. I pretended like I couldn't hear him. Just in the nick of time I was called into Dax and Olivia's conversation.
"You have to wear a pink tie so we can match." Olivia pouted.
"If I wear a pink tie then I'll just look weird!" He groaned. "What guy do you know wear's a pink tie?"
"Come on. Danai, don't you think he should wear a pink tie to match with me?" She asked while glaring at Dax.
"What are you guys talking about?" I looked between them.
"For the Winter Wonderland Dance. That's all she talks about." Dax rolled his eyes. "She's wearing a pink dress so she wants me to wear a pink tie. Doesn't that seem weird for a guy to wear a pink tie?"
I chuckled. "Not that weird, in New York lot's of guys wore pink ties, but who's going to judge you?"
"Exactly!" Olivia yelled. "Who will care if you wear a pink tie?"
"Fine." He grumbled.
"What are you wearing exactly?" I asked Olivia.
"I don't really know yet. All I know is that it's going to be pink. For sure." She smiled. "Are you going to the dance?"
"I'm not sure. I just found out about it today considering it is my first day." I shrugged.
"You have to go." She grabbed me by my shoulders. "Our dances are the best! Probably better then the human ones you went too!"
"Maybe." I laughed at her feeling awkward. "But I do want to see your pink dress when you pick it out."
"Fine as long as you come!" She declared.
"Fine." I nodded my head. "Dances are fun right?"
"Of course they are! Haven't you ever been to a dance?" She asked with wide-eyes.
"No. Never been." I finally replied looking away from her waiting for the snaky remarks. None came.
"Why?" She practically shrieked.
"I've been busy." I lied. I didn't want a lot of people here to know that I was poor and was in foster care. They didn't need to know.
"Then you are totally going to have the time of your life then!" She clapped her hands. "Who's going to be your date?"
"No one." I muttered. I suddenly remembered my little bet with Darian. I smiled. He is so going down.
"Oh come on. A hot one of a kind witch like you can't get a date? A million guys would love to go with you. I see one right now." She pointed.
I made a mistake and looked in that direction. My eyes immediately landed on golden ones. I blushed, but kept on looking into his beautiful eyes. He smiled a real genuine smile. One that seemed to light up his face. The bell rang signaling school was over.
I got up from my seat and grabbed my book bag from the floor.
"What was that?" Olivia whisper shouted at me with a huge smile on her face.
"What was what?" I asked confused.
"That whole staring thing with Darian." She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. "He's totally going to ask you."
I blushed again. "Nothing. And he won't ask me."
"Are you kidding me." Dax chuckled. "I could even tell that there's something going on between you too."
"And Dax is really bad at relationship stuff." Olivia bobbed her head.
"Hey!" He protested.
"It's true! But I still love you." She smiled at him and kissed his cheek.
"You better." He muttered.
I laughed. "I'll see you guys later. I got to go to my locker."
I walked to my locker and put my books away. I didn't have anything for homework besides the project. I was zipping up my book bag when someone closed my locker shut. I looked up to see Darian smiling down at me.
"Hello there, partner." He greeted.
"Uh huh." I said to him.
"I'm here to walk you to the buses or carpool." He wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "Where to?"
"Carpool, I think. Jase should be picking me up." I replied, shrugging his arm off.
A couple minutes later the Vanderbilt's car pulled up and Jase was there with a smile.
"How was school?" She asked from the drivers seat.
"It was fun. I made some friends." I opened the car thinking he would leave. Dan didn't go away. He actually got into the car and sat next to me.
"I'm coming with you. We have to work on our project. I go over the Vanderbilt's house all the time in the afternoon. Plus Adonis is coming to work with Paris. So we are having a date tonight!" He still smiled that same brilliant smile from before.
"Date? Sure. A date with homework. Scoot over your too close." I replied putting my seatbelt on. Well this is going to be an interesting night.
