Chapter Twenty-Two: It Went From The Dance To What Am I?

It was funny seeing the boys faces as their dates walked down the stairs. While I was still waiting to go, I looked down at the guys. They cleaned up nice.

They all wore tuxes and had a corsage to give to their girls. Dax even wore a pink tie to match Olivia. I smiled and saw Darian fiddling with a box. He looked nervous which was shocking. He was never nervous.

Someone lightly pushed me from behind. I turned around to see Jase. She grinned at me and told me to go.

I went down the stairs and looked at Darian. His golden eyes glued to mine. A smile appeared on my lips when I saw his jaw drop.

I made my way towards him and kept the smile on my face.

"Y-You look beautiful." He stuttered while trying to regain his composure.

"Thanks. You look pretty snazzy yourself." I winked playfully at him.

"Well not as good as you, I can promise you that." He laughed. "This is for you."

He gave me a rose corsage and gently wrapped it around my wrist. The flower looked exactly like the rose I made in class. A deep scarlet red with full petals.

"This reminds me of-"

"The rose you made in class?" He guessed with a knowing smile.

"Yeah." I laughed and touched the petals.

"Come on you two. Let's go to the dance and then you can be cute there." Olivia shouted at us with a smirk.

"Alright. We're coming." I grinned at her.

Suddenly my hand was engulfed in something warm. I looked to see him holding my hand. I felt tingles.

When we entered out school, I was flabbergasted. It looked amazing. You couldn't even tell it was our school anymore. The place was completely decorated head to toe and teens were dancing everywhere.

"Come on let's go hit the dance floor!" Elias shouted over the music.

Our huge group went to the middle of the dance hall area and just started flowing with the music. When a fast song came on we started a mosh pit which was funny. Everyone started to join our group when we mashed. I was going to sit down, but that's when a slow song came on.

An arm snaked around my waist. I was about to scream, but I turned my head to see Darian. I let out a huge breath of air.

"What's wrong?" He asked with a suspicious look.

"Nothing, I didn't know it was you." I couldn't tell him I was scared. He would ask what I was scared of and I couldn't tell him.

"Come on dance with me." He dragged me over to the dance floor.

"It's kind of hot in here." I glanced toward the doors. "Can we get some air instead?"

"Yeah. Let's go." He took my hand and lead me out of the school.

Once we were outside, a cold breeze came. It felt nice against my skin. After a minute of comfortable silence, I looked at Dan. I caught him staring at me and I raised my eyebrow.

"You want to dance now?" He asked me with a small smile.

"Out here?"

"Sure, why not? It's beautiful out here and we're all alone."
