Chapter Twenty: Strawesome

Today's Monday. The Monday. The day of the dance and last day of school for a week. You can see why I'm excited, right? School is out for a week.

The only thing that sucks is the paparazzi. Ivan said that no one from outside of the school and Elite was suppose to know about me being the witch. But since Saturday they have been following me around wherever I go.

Sunday I went to Phoebe's family restaurant to get interviewed. Jase was driving me there while paparazzi continued to stalk us. She was getting pretty pissed off and it was funny since she started cussing like a sailor. Now you wouldn't think Jase would cuss, but let me tell you, she has a colorful vocabulary.

Oh yeah, I got the job by the way! Yep I am now a waitress at "Dreamons" which is a pretty cool if I do say so myself. My hours are 4-7pm on the weekdays starting Wednesday.

I just got up and did my daily routine. I was in a good mood today. It's my first dance ever so it got me in a jittery mood. Plus dances are probably cooler in the Mythical Realm with magic and all.

I got on my uniform and went down stairs. There before me was everyone from the Vanderbilt family. The boys were eating and even Jase and Ajax were there. Usually they left for work before we all came down.

"Hey what are you guys doing here?" I asked with a smile on my face.

"We get this week off because of the Elite holiday." Jase grinned while getting some fruit.

"Why do they even make us go to school today?" Elias whined. "I mean if we didn't have today then we would have gotten like 3 more days of break."

"Yeah but then we wouldn't have had a dance." Ace countered, getting another waffle.

"They could have done that last Friday." Elias rolled his eyes.

"Who cares?" Paris snapped. "The dance is tonight and you can't change that. So can you just be quiet."

We were all silent for a couple minutes. Too shocked to speak. Paris was always the patient, quiet person who helps you with your problems. The one who never snaps at anyone.

"Are you okay, Paris?" I asked him quietly.

"No." He groaned and buried his face with his hands. "I'm sorry, you guys."

They all said that it was okay and looked at him curiously.

"What's wrong?" I peered at him. He looked distressed.

His eyes were bloodshot and his hair was sticking up everywhere. He seemed like he didn't sleep at all.

"It's nothing. Just forget it." He put his head down on the table.

"No spill." I shook him lightly. Feeling tingles again.

He sighed deeply looking up and looking utterly exhausted. "I rather not say in front of my parents."

Jase huffed. "Fine we know when it's time to leave."

Ajax and Jase both got up and went upstairs.

"Now tell us." I grabbed a piece of toast from the table.

"I just feel so stupid. I asked her to the dance, but she isn't even the one I wanted to go with." He sighed more.

"What do you mean?" Ace asked. "Who did you want to take?"

"Another girl?" Elias guessed, raising his eyebrow.

A blush tinted Paris's pale face as he shifted nervously as he replied with a low voice. " ...not really."
