Okay, what can I wear that will hide all this, I ask myself as I rifle through my closet. I came home late last night, but my dad didn't come home until after I did. So, I basically didn't have to worry about explaining my bruises, and burns and singed clothing to him. But this morning he is home, and I have to pick out something to wear so he won't suspect anything.
Amanda is coming by to pick me up in twenty minutes, so I have to be quick. I left my hair as it was when I got out of the shower, it'll dry curly. And my makeup is done as well. I just have to pick out an outfit.
Today is the only day we have to go to school this week, we get off the rest for fall break. I run a hand through my half wet, half dry hair, and shove all my hangers to the back of the closet. Most days I wouldn't care. I would just grab the first pair of pants and the first sweatshirt I saw. But today is different.
Aaron and I kissed twice yesterday. And it wasn't just kissing. I like him a lot. And call me naive, but I think maybe he likes me a little bit too.
It's weird. I mean, I know he's immortal and everything. And that is still completely weird to me.
But I like him. And I can't help that.
I snag my dark pink high low skirt from the shelf on top of my closet and throw it onto the bed. Soon following suit is a teal tank top. I wrinkle my nose and run my fingers across my belts before choosing one and toss an elephant necklace in for good measure.
I pull it all on, and grab a pair of flats from the depths of my closet before grabbing my messenger bag from the bed and running downstairs.
I grab my leather jacket from the hook in the hall and shrug it on as I continue downstairs. I'll take it off as soon as I get into the car, I just have to get past my dad.
"Morning, dad," I call into the office, where he sits typing as I grab an apple from the fruit tray.
"Morning, sweetie," He mumbles back, and I wonder exactly what he's working on. Typically he works at the hospital, but sometimes he has to work here as well.
I see Amanda's car pull into the driveway and wave goodbye to my dad, "See ya!" I yell and slam the front door behind me.
Amanda pulls out of the driveway basically as soon as possible once I get in the car. She's a very high strung person, and doesn't even like for the car to be at a stand still very long. I don't like driving with her very often. It's kind of terrifying.
But unfortunately, it's the easiest way to get to school since she literally lives three houses down the street.
"Okay, spill, Dani." She cuts to the chase as she pops the tab on her can of coke and begins chugging it.
I take the jacket off and throw it in the backseat. "I called you yesterday and told you everything..." I trail off, confused. I was right, it had been a long phone call. I didn't want to lie to her, so I didn't. I told her everything. At the beginning she didn't believe me, just as I hadn't believed Aaron, but by the end she began to realize I was telling her the truth. After she saw the pictures of my burns, and I convinced Aaron to send me a picture of Cerberus.
