Pull yourself together, I whisper harshly to myself in my mind as I wipe tears off my nose.

Breathing deeply, I close my eyes. She's not coming back, and I have to accept that. My daughter is gone, and I need to pull myself together enough to attend this one dinner on Mount Olympus.

I fix my makeup and walk out of the door, walking briskly in the chilly air.

"Evening," I nod to the guards as they let me inside. I navigate my way through the halls and enter the dining room, where most everyone is already seated.

I lift a hand in a small wave, "Sorry I'm late."

Athena makes a sympathetic face, "Totally understandable, dear."

Pity just making losing Persephone worse.

I slide into the seat next to Poseidon, and notice that his hair is dripping with sea water. I roll my eyes, that boy will never grow up.

"Demi, how are you doing?" Artemis asks. She's always been the blunt one, and I drop my napkin on the floor, flustered.

"Um..." But I'm saved from answering, because at that moment, dinner is brought in.

It looks to be some kind of meat, and it doesn't look that good, honestly. But since it's something that will keep me from having to answer Artemis, I cut off a bite and put it in my mouth.

I can hear people around me whispering, but I just ignore them, thinking they're probably talking about me.

It's not until I hear Aphrodite shriek that I put my fork down. "There's a toe on my plate!"

Everyone begins frantically poking at their own dinner, and I can hear the exlaims, "I found an eye!" "Ugh, mine has a finger!"

Zeus stands up, at the head of the table. His fingers curl around his plate as he yells, "What person is on my table?!"

I look down at my own plate and recongize the vague shape of a shoulder.

It's the last thing I see before I puke and pass out.
