Walking briskly down a wide sidewalk, Seraphina seemed to hit each and every person in the morning bustle of London. Unbeknownst to her, she was being followed.
Coffee in hand, and a leather case on her shoulder, she could hear the faint clicking sound of her velvet blue pumps on the hard concrete ground. With the exception of one trip up, she went along her way undeterred. Today was important. She had an interview at the Oxford University for a job as one of its many professors. In Literature. Before this, she hadn't had quite the amount of experience she needed, and thus made her search her apartment of every stray coin.
The man following her had other plans.
Picking up his pace the man gained on her figure until he was ahead of her. Waiting near an alleyway.
Seraphina was expecting a lot of things this morning. Being grabbed by the wrist and dragged into an alley in the early morning was most certainly not on her agenda, but quite suddenly she had no care whatsoever.
"Erik!" she exclaimed, throwing her coffee to the side and dropping the leather case with her papers in it. She wrapped her arms around his neck, for once almost level with his height, and rested her chin on his shoulder as he slowly encircled her with his own embrace. Moments like this were not in his nature, but perhaps the only one he'd allow it for was her.
"It is I." he said simply. Erik couldn't lie, it was good to finally see her again after they had parted ways when she was only fifteen. She wasn't too hard to find, being an accomplished person in her field of study. As quickly as her smile had appeared, it disappeared and her eyes darkened.
"Why are you back? You've caught another lead haven't you?" she said, cutting to the point. Erik smiled slightly, making her own lips twitch up.
"Always so blunt, Seph. Yes. I have another lead, as you put it. This one is sound, though. He will be there."
"Alright."
"Alright?"
"Yes, this job would just be something to fill my life with. It's not as if I was intent on starting a family or meeting up with friends. I don't have those." Seraphina stated as the pair exited the alley and made for her house. He walked slightly behind her.
It was during this walk he saw how much she had aged in the last eleven years. Walking briskly with a spring in her step, her red waves bounced around in it's half-updo. Erik suddenly felt the need to stand next to her as he saw a group of late teens snicker to each other as she passed by, their eyes following. He sent a glare their way that made them blush and look down. The feeling was new, and he didn't quite like it. But then, it was to be expected since he had not seen her for so long, and had taken care of both of them before.
Once in the flat Seraphina gathered a bag of clothes and small belongings(about two bags worth), and glanced around one last time before leaving next month's payment and leaving to the airport.
Erik closed his eyes once sitting in his seat in the coach section of the plane. When Seraphina looked over, he looked way too comfortable in such a small space, and it disturbed her. She was a fidgety person, always particular about how to sit which way.
"Please sit still." Erik asked with his eye closed. She grumbled loudly. "Easy for you to say, you're just about used to everything and anything while on your manhunt."
"Ah yes, rundown motels are just about as comfortable as cement. No, I just learn to deal with it, unlike you vögelchen." Seraphina glared at him.
"I am not little, nor an avian creature!" she exclaimed in a whisper. Erik merely chuckled to himself. She was just as easy to annoy as ever. To make it slightly more amusing, she had not lost her German accent, unlike himself over the years speaking English and a few other languages. His chuckle was cut short when a pair of feet kicked his seat forward. Turning around, he sent the person a withering glare, only then noticing it to be a small child. The little boy pouted, and was quite put out until Seraphina looked back.
"Did you kick my friend's seat, little one?" she asked lightly. The little boy now had watering tears, and nodded his head. She pouted her lips and reaching back wiping away his tears.
"There, there, it's alright. Sometime I want to kick him too," She said. The boy laughed a little, while Erik shot her a glare. "But between you and I, if we do that we might not like the result, yes? So how's about we just settle for a nap. You can imagine anything in your dreams." Seraphina told him. The boy nodded. WHen she sat back down normally she heard a clearing though to her left.
Erik sat staring at her with an annoyed look. Be fair, she had just told the kid that she found him worthy of a kick now and then, and that wasn't too nice. Not that he was a nice person overall to begin with.
"Argh close the blinds." she said looking away. He did as was asked, only then noticing they had been flying over the Atlantic ocean. He never knew why, but she always hated flying high above an open body of water with nothing nearby. He knew the water fear extended from the experiences from Schmidt, but the height thing baffled him.
The rest of the eighteen hour flight was spent in sleep, or silent though.

Ok, so I apologize if any of you know German, because I don't, and I'm not sure how google translate does it's stuff, so yeah. I'm really sorry if all you fluent speakers out there are offended. Anyways, how was my first chapter? Do any readers like it? Hate it? Why? Tell me! (Not rudely though, that never solves anything)
