••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Chapter 2
I woke up on my purple-flower sheeted bed.I tried to sit up but my head hurt so I laid back down. I groaned. I felt something damp on my forehead and reached for it. It was a damp towel.
I glanced to my side. "Mum...?" She sat on a plastic stool beside my bed.
She woke up from her nap, looked at me and a smile appeared. "Luce... You're awake."
"W-what happened?" I asked.
"You fainted. On the way home. Seems like you have a high fever. Why didn't you call us? We could've picked you up from school." Mum's face was filled with sadness and concern but also with relief.
"I-I didn't want to trouble dad and you. I didn't wanna make you guys worried." I avoided eye contact so I looked down. I hate worrying people, especially my family and friends. "Sorry..."
"No, my dear... You don't have to apologize. You're a good child. Caring about others and doesn't want to trouble or worry others with your problems. I understand." Mum gave me a sad smile. "But sometimes it's fine to burden others with your problems. It's alright to make others worry for you. You shouldn't keep everything inside." She pointed to my heart. "Because, if you continue to do so, one day you will explode with every burden you carry by yourself."
"Sorry..." I said softly. I've heard that a lot but it's just hard for me to express all my feelings to others.
"Just remember, Luce, your friends and family are always there for you. Don't be scared to tell us any of your problems, okay? That's what friends and family are for."
"Kay..." I forced a smile. "Thanks, mum."
"Just keep that in mind." She smiled at me sweetly. The smile that is always able to make me feel comfortable and loved.
"Okay. I will." I said. "If I fainted on my way home, how did I get to my room?" I asked out of curiosity, but part of my mind already knew the answer.
Mum laughed. "Kris of course!" she exclaimed.
"Kris?"
"Yes, Kris carried you here. He even waited for you to wake up." She giggled as my face started to fill with horror. So my guess was right. Mum didn't know that Kris used to bully me. She saw him as a gentleman. And she thinks that we like each other, like Katrina.
'Dammit, Kris!' I cursed in my mind. 'Why did you have to carry me?!'
"Uhh... Where is he now?" I asked, hoping he wasn't here anymore.
"Oh, he went back a couple of minutes ago. He insisted on staying at least till you woke up but it was getting late and he has school tomorrow." mum explained. I sighed, at least he wasn't there anymore.
"Oh... What time is it now?" I mumbled to myself, but mum answered the question.
"It's 8.30."
"What?! You mean I've slept through the whole afternoon??" I was shocked. 'There goes my anime watching time.' I sighed.
