Chapter Seven
~Luce's POV~
I made my way towards the cafeteria, walking away from Delos while grumbling and muttering to myself. I definitely did not understand that guy.
Why was it that out of all the girls in school, he has to choose me to annoy? Not to mention he took my pen too, I liked that pen.
I groaned in frustration, completely oblivious to the confused look from people around me as I walked pass them and continued to grumble and groan.
I turned and took a quick glance behind me, only to find that Delos was still standing at that exact same spot, smirking when he caught my gaze. I let out another frustrated groan, quickly turning back and looking away from him.
But I froze in my tracks when I smelled something. I sniffed the air, and coughed.
Smoke? Is someone smoking?
I coughed again as the scent filled my nostrils. That wasn't good. I coughed once again. I felt my breathing get heavier, and cursed under my breath. I couldn't smell smoke, once I do, I start coughing bad and at times, it may lead to an attack.
I looked around, curious to see who was the idiot that was smoking in school. I coughed once more as the horrible stench got stronger and I spotted them.
A group of boys at a nearby corner, two of them holding and smoking on a cigarette. I narrowed my eyes as I look at them, and only one word came to mind; delinquents.
We (prefects) did not have to tell them off, because usually, that would mean trouble. You never know what these people could do to you. What we were supposed to do was to know their names -by looking at their name tags, usually- and report it to a teacher.
I didn't realize I was glaring too long until I noticed the boy's menacing and unusually grey eyes met mine for a brief moment before it turned cold. I shuddered as chills ran down my back when I looked into his cold eyes.
The three boys stood up. They dropped the cigarettes and stepped on the bud with the tip of their shoes.
Littering.
I thought with disgust even though this was no time to think about that. But I was feeling oddly calm for some weird reason. I did not feel a tiny bit scared although I knew things were about to get bad.
The middle guy, the one with the grey eyes, who I assumed was the leader or something took a step closer to me and his companions did the same. They made their way towards me, the leader's eyes never left mine as I met the grey orbs with a glare that was just as cold.
In less than a minute, the three delinquents were already standing in front of me, towering over my short figure with their height. The grey-eyed boy continued to stare at me with his penetrating, cold eyes. I had to strain my head back to look him in the eyes and I somehow managed to remain a straight face and calm posture although I was starting to get slightly nervous, just a bit though.
It was three against one. It wasn't fair, not to mention it was three well-built boys and a small girl. Small as I may be, I wasn't weak though. I guess I owe this to Kris and his so called "gang". With them always bullying me when I was younger, I suppose I've gotten used to these kinds of situation. I had to act calm, fear would only be feeding them fuel.
