Chapter 3
It's been three days since I was sick. Kate informed the teacher the reason I was absent. I've fully recovered and I was now on my way to school. I was trying to avoid Kris so I went a little earlier than I usually do. I had to go earlier anyway, I had prefect duty everyday before class. And usually Kris would just tag along with me. Every time I ask him why he was going so early, his reply is always "Because I don't wanna walk alone." Or, "Because it's not safe for a girl to walk alone."
Kris came to my house the past two days before and after school while I was sick in bed. Mum let him in even though I told her not to. And both days, he would ask "Are you okay?" or "Did you take your medicine?" or say "Make sure you get enough rest." I could tell there was a note of concern in his voice and his face was etched with worry. But I was confused, why would he be worried about me? Why would he even care? I couldn't ask Kate this. I could already imagine her squealing in excitement, in other words, fangirling.
I looked at Kris' house. Didn't look like he saw me. He was probably still asleep. He always woke up late. But then, he did wake up early the past two days, just to visit me.
I hurried my pace. Suddenly I heard footsteps, it sounded like running. Then a hand patted my shoulder. "Hey! How do you feel?" It was Kris, smiling.
'Oh shoot!' I swore in my mind. Out loud I said, "I'm fine! Why are you so early?!"
"Why so grumpy? Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." he teased. "Anyways, I can't possibly let a sick girl walk by herself."
"Shut up!" I snapped. "And I'm not sick! I'm fine!"
"Well, you were sick yesterday." he said matter-of-factly.
"Shut up!" I grumbled and crossed my arms over my chest.
He quickened his pace so he was walking in front of me, turned around and bent so his face was right in front of me, observing my face.
"What??" I snapped.
"You look mad." he commented.
"I am mad!"
He chuckled. "That's cute."
My face was now a mix of anger, confusion and...embarrassment??? I was speechless. I felt my ears heat up.
"Aw, now you're blushing, how cute~" he chuckled again. But there was a light tint of pink creeping onto his cheeks. He turned away so fast that I was unsure if what I saw was real or just my imagination.
I pouted. "Shut up!"
He grinned, "And now you're pouting~"
I grumbled. "Just shut up!!" I screamed at him.
"Aw~ Calm down!" he said. "There's no need to be angry~"
"Ugh... Shut up will you?! Geez... You're so stubborn." I pushed him away. He stumbled backwards.
"Hey!" he frowned at me. "You don't have to push."
"And you don't have to be so annoying. Hmph...!"
