Chapter 4
Giggles.
I heard giggling. I looked up only to find mum standing behind the sofa we were on.
"M-Mum!!" I exclaimed in shock. I let go of Kris's shirt which was wrinkled and wet at the places I clenched onto and cried on and pushed away from him. "H-How long have u been standing there!?"
Kris was obviously shocked by my sudden outburst but he got his cool back in no time and acted like nothing has happened.
"Wow..." Mum started, giggling again. "I haven't seem you cried like that in years..."
It was true. I haven't really cried in years. I could barely even remember the last time I cried.
I stared at mum, not sure of what to say, sniffling every few seconds. In the end, I looked down, not wanting to face her. "Y-yeah..." I stuttered quietly.
"Wow...." mum said again, letting out a sigh. "I didn't think I would be able to see you cry like that again. It's been 5 years." Mum looked at me, a sad smile plastered on her face.
"M-me neither..." My voice was barely even a whisper. It's surprising mum could still hear me.
"It's..." mum started, lifting my chin so my eyes met hers. She swept her thumb across my cheeks, wiping wet tear stains away. "It's somewhat relieving to be able to see you cry again."
I forced a smile. It was something I was used to doing, pretending, just so people won't worry about me. Even if I wanted them to know how I really feel, to understand me, but that was just selfish.
"I'm sorry..." I said softly.
"You don't have to apologize. You did nothing wrong." Mum smoothed my hair with her fingers. She rarely did that.
"W-wait!" I heard Kris exclaim in shock. I've forgotten Kris was even there. I turned to face him.
"What?" I asked, annoyed. That was always my tone when I talked to him.
"You're not cute at all." He returned my glare. "And just a moment ago you were so adorable crying in my arms."
"Oh, shut up!" I snapped at him, feeling my cheeks heat up when he called me adorable.
"Aw~ You two are so cute~!" I heard Mum say. She was clapping her hands like an excited little girl.
I stared at her like she was insane. I didn't care about Kris's reaction to that, maybe shocked, or grinning. He's a player after all.
But Kris totally ignored mum's comment. "You......" he started.
"I what?" I glared at him pointedly, expecting him to tease me.
"You haven't cried for...years!?" His shocked and serious tone caught me off guard.
"Y-yeah...?" I stuttered, looking at him confusedly.
"Are you serious?" He stared at me wide-eyed, disbelieving.
"Yeah..."
"Oh my God...... You've got to be kidding me." He dragged his palm down his face, letting out a long sigh.
