Seraphina Fischer was one among thousands. She was another face in the masses, unremarkable. Young, dirtied, miserable and depressed, she looked all too alike to the other striped bodies. Yet she, sadly, had been singled out for many reasons. She was a child, female, and able to work. Thus she was separated from her parents, and her only brother. The main reason though, was because when she was dragged away, the guards handling her flew off. The ground shook, fences caved and bricks fell from solid walls. Yet this changed nothing, and instead she was locked in a shed with only one other for company for many months.
Their time together made a bond like no other. The boy, whose name was Erik, did most everything he could to make sure she wouldn't be taken to the laboratory. Needless to say it never worked. He couldn't call on his power fast enough, and malnutrition weakened them. Many days went by, but neither knew how many months. When the day came that they escaped, both were nearly dead when the Allies rescued them from a ditch on a roadside, and took them to a hospital.
After being sent to an adoptive family, and staying, for nearly seven years, Erik and Seraphina parted ways; He to college, and herself to a new family in London. The family, in turned out, was her own. Her Aunt Margaret and Lyall Grey were nice people, and accepted her with open arms.
