Sanaa

I open one eye to be woken by the sun peering through the white curtains. I look over at the alarm clock, 1:43pm. Damn, I thought, that's the most sleep I've had in ages. I get out of bed and walked to my bathroom connected to my room. Looking in the mirror, I find my curls all over the place.

I do my hygiene, tie my hair up into a messy bun and put on some sweatpants and a tee.

"JAMAR, HURRY UP WE'RE GONNA BE LATE!"

Knowing that was a females voice, I walk downstairs to be greeted by a short, brown skinned girl with long hair. She notices me and her eyes widen.

"So you're the girl that Jamar was talking about at school yesterday." He's been talking about me?

"Talking about?" I ask politely.

"Yeah, but in a good way. He was telling me about how happy he was to find out that he had a sister, I'm Dana by the way, Jamar's girlfriend ." She extends her hand.

Wow, he has good taste. "Sanaa", I say with a smile while shaking her hand.

"STOP YELLING I'M COM-..oh, I see you've met my sister", Jamar says as he reaches the bottom of the stairs.

She looks at me. "Yeah, she's really pretty, but I mostly like her eyes."

Never really hearing about anyone complimenting my eyes, I was a little taken back.
"Thanks", I say.

Hearing Jamar groan, we both look back at him. "Shit, I forgot something, it'll only take 5 minutes I promise babe."

Dana scoffs. "Make that 2 minutes, if you're not back by then I'm leaving you. Anyway it was nice meeting you Sanaa." And with that she walked outside to her car.

Jamar rolls his eyes and mumbles walking back upstairs. "Damn, always gotta be so damn difficult nd shit."

I shake my head and walk to the kitchen. I open the cabinets, hoping to find some cereal.

"Fuck", I mumble to myself, looking at the cereal on the very top shelf. I brace my self and climb up on the kitchen counter, reaching for the Frosted Flakes.

"Need some help?" I hear a voice say. I turn my head to the side to find my dad smiling at me. "You could've called me, I would've helped you."

I shake my head, "Nope, I got it." I hop off the counter and grab a bowl from the second shelf.

"I was thinking we could do a little shopping today, you know buy you a new bed spread, a new phone, things like that." Phone. Never in my life I thought I would get one of those.

"Sounds good to me", I say pouring my cereal. I go in the refrigerator and grab some milk, only to be hearing a voice coming from the living room.

"MR.E, MY NIGGA!" I close the refrigerator and look up to see two boys walking in the kitchen.

"Boy what did I tell you about walking in my house like you own this place", my dad says. They look to be about my age, but way much taller.
