I picked out the perfect summer outfit. Since I wear the hijab, it obviously has to be modest. I wore a pink long sleeve shirt with white jeans. I paired it with the navy sandals and a hijab to match. I didn't have much makeup on since I was going to the pool. I only put on a tinted moisturizer and some highlight. I grabbed my sunglasses and my phone and headed downstairs.
"Jihad! Hurry up. I'm going to the car." I yelled so my brother could hear me.
"Coming!" He said as he came down the stairs.
We got in the car and I backed out of the drive way. My house wasn't all that. It was a perfect size house for me and my family. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms. I still lived with my parents since I am only nineteen. My sister Jehan, who is twenty one, should be leaving soon since she is engaged. Which leaves my mom and dad and my two younger sisters, Janan and Sireen.
"I'm in the mood for Starbucks. So we'll be at the pool after." I told my brother.
He was fine with it since I was getting him a drink and all.

I pulled up to the drive through.
"Hello. Welcome to Starbucks, what can I get for you?" A girls voice who sounded bored to death came through the speaker.
"Hi, can I get two grande Java Chip Fraps please." I told her kindly.
"That will be $10.48. Please pull up to the window."

We sipped on our drinks as I drove to the pool. Once we got there my brother went to go change so he could swim. I wasn't in the mood for swimming so I just pulled a chair and chilled by the pool. I plugged my earphones in and opened the Spotify app. I put on my favorite playlist and continued sipping on my drink. I noticed there was a life guard sitting directly across from me. He was very good looking might I add. I was admiring his beauty when he looked over.
Oh god, look away, look away! I said to my self. I quickly look away only to notice him smirking before I turned my head.
How can someone be that handsome? He had curly light brown hair. I couldn't tell what color his eyes were since I didn't have my glasses on, but they were light. And he only had on a pair of red shorts. So his entire upper body was exposed. His abs were perfectly chiseled. Haneen stop looking. I told my self. I was immediately interrupted by my brother splashing me with water.
"Jihad! I'm going to kill you!" I practically yelled.
From the corner of my eye I could see the hot life guard laughing. I noticed my brother swimming over to him. What the heck. The life guard gave my brother a high five. Then it hit me. He must have told my brother to splash me. Wow. Okay, well two can play at this game. As I was making my way over to the life guard I heard someone whisper "terrorist" to their friend. I turned around so quickly. I was furious.
"Excuse me." Even though I was infuriated, I stayed calm not wanting to start a scene.
"Go back to where you came from. No one wants you here." As you all might have guessed, he was white.
I truly don't understand why people have to be so mean. But being the person I am, I responded calmly.
"I was born here, where do you want me to go? The hospital?" As I was getting ready to continue walking I heard the guy mumble something under his breath.
"Why don't you go blow your self up, since that all you guys do." He smirked.
Okay now I was mad.
"I don't kno..."
"Excuse me, we don't tolerate any racism here so if you could ever so kindly leave that would be great." An unfamiliar voice said.
I turned around only to find the really hot life guard right behind me. Great. Just great.
"Whatever, I was just leaving." The guy who made those racist comments stated angrily.
I turned around to thank the life guard for sticking up for me.
"Uh, thank you for uh, doing that. You didn't have to." I told him.
"No, no. It's the least I could do. Trust me, that happens here a lot nowadays." He said. "I'm Yahya, by the way."
He was Arabic. Wow. Today got a whole lot better.
"Haneen." I smiled.
"What a beautiful name for such a beauty." He wore the same smirk on his lips when my brother had splashed me. He knew he was good looking. Way to be cocky.
I felt my cheeks heating up. Awesome.
"Well I'm going to get back to my seat now. Thanks again." I quickly told him as I waved bye.

After about an hour I called for my brother to let him know we had to head home. As my brother went to go change, I gathered my things and headed for the door.
"Haneen! Wait up." I heard someone yell.
I turned around only to find Yahya. I stopped walking and waited for him.
"Uh this might seem a little weird since I just met you." You could tell he was nervous since he was looking down at his feet and had his hand on his neck. "Here's my number. Uh, text me sometime, yeah?" He gave me a crumbled up paper.
"Uh, yeah for sure." I told him. "Bye."
"See you around." He smiled.
Wow, what happened to the cocky life guard I just met an hour ago.

Once I got home I ate some dinner that had been waiting for me in the fridge. I took a quick shower and put on my black silk robe and sat in my bad with the piece of paper in my hand. I had been debating whether or not to text him. I mean he did give me his number for a reason.

Yahya's POV

Ever since I got home I couldn't get her off my mind. The girl I met at the pool seemed different. I've met a ton of girls, but Haneen, she seems different. She seems different than the rest of the other self absorbed girls I know.
"Hey, what's up with you? You've been out of it all day." My younger brother told me. "What's on your mind?" He asked.
"I met a girl today, during my job."
"Another bitch, get it bro." He slapped my back as he laughed.
"No, it's not like that. She doesn't seem like all the other girls." I told him. " I gave her my number and she hasn't texted yet."
"Give her time Yahya. She did just meet you."
He had a point. Before I could say anything else my phone buzzed. I took it out of my pocket only to see it was a text from a random number. It read:

"Hey. It's Haneen. What's up?"

It's like God was blessing me or something. I quickly replied back smiling so hard my cheeks hurt. What is happening to me. I don't even know the girl. I really just hope she's the girl I think she is.

Haneen's POV

It's currently three in the morning and I was still texting Yahya. As cheesy as this sounds, he's everything I wanted in a guy. He's smart which I can tell by the way he talks, he's funny, and he's religious. Him being good looking and super tall is a bonus to be honest. We were talking about our religion. He was saying how he's always been close to Allah and how he prays five times a day. I don't want to jump into anything. Especially this fast, so for right now, we can just be friends. I was getting pretty tired so I texted him that I would talk to him later since I was going to go to bed. And he replied:
"Okay. Goodnight Haneen ;) sweet dreams."
And with that I put my phone on my dresser and went to sleep.
