Justin

He didn't come out.

My breath hitched in my throat as I watched the ash and pieces of wood fly as the building exploded.

I repeated it over in my head again.

He didn't come out.

He didn't come out.

I could hear sirens in the background, but I was stuck in the same position.

Staring at the building.

Where is he?

Any minute now he's going to run towards us, any minute now.

He isn't dead. He can't be dead.

"Where is he?!" I shouted and looked at Ryan who looked just as shocked as me.

I didn't get an answer from any of the boys as they all watched the building.

"Where is he?!" I tried again. Someone had to answer the damn question.

Bruce looked down, away from my hard glare on the three. Charlie had a hard expression on his face, keeping his eyebrows furrowed as he watched.

I didn't know who would break first. I could feel tears brimming my eyes and my lip started to tremble.

He didn't come out.

I didn't touch the food on my plate. I just scooted it around with my fork.

I was lost in my own little world. A world where everything was perfect. Where Jason and I are together.

That's perfect to me right now.

Him telling me he loves me and me being the shy person I am, blushing at it. He was still here in that world, I didn't want to go back to the place where I had no one.

"Eat, please." Bruce choked out once he walked to the kitchen and saw me scooting it around.

Bruce. Our relationship was, different to say the least.

We were never close, but he sure knew that something is wrong.

I didn't answer and he took that as a sign to leave.

Next, Ryan came in. He looked at me and sighed.

"Justin, please, eat something. Jason wouldn't want you doing this." His voice was dry from the crying he's done and his eyes were bloodshot.

At the sound of Jason's name a knot twisted in my stomach.

"I can't. I can't do it Ryan." I mumbled and shook my head, setting my fork down. I couldn't do it. I felt like I couldn't move.

Jason was gone.

Dead.

While I was here,

alive.

"I'll be in there if you need me." Ryan whispered and gestured to the living room before walking out quietly, glancing at me once more.

I stared down at my food and looked intently at the pancakes.

"Jason, let me help." I pouted and he shook his head.

"No can do babe. I'm making it. If I can." He mumbled the last sentence and looked at the measuring cup, his green eyes staring at it intently.
