Wait. Is that Nicholas? He is here again—and in normal clothes I might add. Damn, he looks hot in jeans and a T-shirt. I lick my lips seductively. At least I look more presentable now, I think to myself. I am starting to think this man is stalking me. You know what though, that fine ass can stalk me anytime. I will not go to him, he will come to me. I have to let him know that I am in control; he will not get me to melt every time I see him.
I walk past him and through the velvet curtain, turning back to glance at him and smile. Now we wait and see if he takes the bait. A small bar sits off to the side, in the back room. I gracefully slide on to the barstool and order a drink. Satin’s brother Carter’s band is supposed to be playing tonight. I can see Carter setting up to my right on the small stage. He plays here every other weekend, I think they should be headlining for some big name bands because they are that good. But that’s just my opinion.
The bartender slides my drink in front of me.
“I’ll take a glass of scotch,” I hear a familiar sultry voice say beside me. I turn my head to see Nicholas leaning against the bar, looking at me.
“We meet again, Miss Annabelle,” he says smoothly.
“Seriously, Nick buddy, it’s Cadence. Get it right or don’t speak to me.” I hate when people call me that. The name is too angelic for me and I am definitely no angel. I turn my head back towards my drink and start sipping on it. He traced his finger down the length of the scar on my arm. I turn my head to look at him and jerk my arm back.
“Where did you get that scar from?” he asks.
“It really is not any of your business, now is it?” I spat back.
The six-inch scar on my right forearm was from my arm going through a window. I got mad at an ex-boyfriend and put my arm through the window of his Camaro. Enough said.
“Sorry if I have offended you,” he says, leaning away from me.
It is so much easier to give into my desires than trying to remain in charge. I down the rest of my drink and walk over to where Carter is still setting up.
“Hey, do you know when Satin will be here?” I ask him.
“No clue,” he replies, without looking up.
Okay, that was a waste of my breath. I turn on my heel and head back to my barstool.
Before I make it back to the bar my phone vibrates.

I take my place back on my stool and order another drink. I notice that Nick is no longer sitting at the bar. Well, that figures. Why do I feel this burning desire to control him? Make him beg for my touch? Tease every inch of his amazing body? I feel someone’s arms wrap around my waist and their warm breath on my neck. Chills run through my body.
“Did you miss me, Cade?” I turn my head around to see Derek standing behind me. Damn, I was hoping it was Nick.
“Well, since I saw you this morning… nope, not at all.” I smirk, knowing that would get him going. I love screwing with his head. He lets go of me and turns to leave, running smack into Nick.
“Man, watch where you’re going,” Derek complains.
“Sorry, my mistake.”
“Seriously, Nick, it wasn’t your fault,” I assure him.
