Penny had hung up on Kyle, and Kyle couldn’t help but feel guilty. Kyle’s dad had wrecked Penny, and now that Kyle is trying to get close to Penny, nothing seems to be going his way. He clenched the concert tickets in his hand and though “no big deal, I’ll just get Brian or Michael to come with me”.

Suddenly, there was a knock at Kyle’s door. “Come in!” Kyle said, placing the concert tickets and his phone on his bed. His mother showed up in the doorway, smiling from ear to ear. Kyle loves his mother more than his father, for sure. His mother and father got divorced when he was little, and every time he had to visit his dad, he dreaded it.

His dad would always act weird, and always seemed... so out of it.

“Just making sure you’re doing okay.” His mother smiled, nodding. Kyle nodded and simply replied with “I’m okay”. His mother nodded and shut the door, while Kyle pulled back out his phone. He opened up his contacts and stared at the words “Penny”. He couldn’t help but wonder if he should call her back or not.

And with that, with all that Kyle and Penny have gone through, Kyle did something he rarely did. He only did this when a relative died, or when his mom wouldn’t buy him Taco Bell, he loved Taco Bell. He cried. Kyle could have any girl that he wants, but the girl he really is interested in, can barely look at him without crying.

He heard manly laughs coming up the stairs, and immediately knew it would be Michael and Brian. He took his shirt and wiped up his tears, and tried his best to look happy. The boys barged in through the door, and pushed each other.

“Guess what!” Michael yelled, pushing Brian towards the fish tank sitting on Kyle’s dresser.

“Careful!” Kyle yelled, laughing a little. His friends always cheered him up, no matter how sad or mad he was. Brian shot Michael a glare and sat down next to Kyle on his bed.

“Bro, you look a bit sad. What’s wrong?” Brian asked, patting Kyle’s back. Kyle shook his head.

“Nothing, I’m fine.” Kyle said, smiling widely. Kyle is the person who would always smile through a sad or painful situation. Right now, he was going through an extremely sad situation, which made his smile wider than usual. “Anyways, what are you guys doing here?”

“We have a plan for you to make Penny your woman!” Michael exclaimed, winking at Kyle.

“I really don’t wanna talk about this.” Kyle said, staring down at the tickets in his hands.

“Come on! It’s an awesome plan.” Brian said, clapping his hands. Kyle rolled his eyes and gestured them to tell the plan. Even though Kyle didn’t want to think about Penny, he would eventually have to stop being so sad about her.

“Okay. We ask Penny to come to the park one day, near the pond. Then, Michael whips out his guitar and starts playing a song that we will write sooner or later. You sing, and I’ll be the dancer. You serenade her, then ask her out on a date. She’ll definitely say yes.” Brian said, using weird hand gestures to get his point across.

“That is the worst plan I’ve ever heard in my whole entire life. First of all, I can’t sing. And second of all, she’s going to say no.” Kyle said, crossing his arms over his large chest.

“Dude, you’ve gotta do something then,” Brian said. “Whether it’s finally getting Penny to go out with you or moving on to someone else.” Kyle nodded his head, and rubbed his forehead. He was completely confused, and had no idea what to do.

“I’ve never fallen this hard for a girl.” Kyle said. “And I’m not sure she’ll catch me.”
