Jeff

Tess was quiet the entire ride to her house. Besides giving me directions here and there, she didn't say a word. I had hoped that the car ride would lighten the mood, but I guess I was wrong. I looked over at her. She had stopped crying, but she was hugging her knees to her chest. I felt bad for her. Slendy had no right to force that story out of her. I get that he wants her to fear him and all, but that's just to far. "Stop at the grey house." she said. I obeyed and turned the car off. Tess unbuckled her seatbelt and looked at me. "Thank you for trying to comfort me. It meant a lot." I smiled at her. "Anytime you need me," I said, " I'm there." She smiled at me, opened her door, and walked up to the house. I bot out and followed her. I had changed into my illusion form before we left, so it was ok if her mom saw me. Tess knocked on the door and we waited. A girl, about Tess' age, opened it. "Tess!" the girl screamed, and engulfed her in a hug. The girl looked at me and frowned. She wispered something in Tess' ear and broke away from the hug. "Are you the jackass that kidnapped my best friend?" She sounded irritated. "No," I said, "I'm the jackass that SAVED your best friend. If it wasn't for me, your friend would be in jail right now." The girl rolled her eyes at me. I was having mixed feelings about her. She cared about Tess, which was good, but she was kinda rude to me. I looked at Tess. She was staring at something on her phone. She started tearing up and ran inside the house. Her friend turned around and dashed after her. I wasn't too far behind.

Tess was in what I assumed was her room. She was sobbing heavily. I watched as tears rolled down her cheeks. I approached her slowly. She looked up at me and I sat next to her. She tried to tell me to go away, but collapsed on my chest instead. I held her and rubed her back for a little while while she cried into my hoody. Wow, knows me for one day and already trusts me. I looked at her friend who was astonished. "Wow," she said, "She must really trust you if she's letting you hold her like that. She's had trust issues ever since we met. I'm Anna, by the way." "Jeff." I said. Her friends not SO bad. I can learn to like her. Tess stopped crying so hard and broke away from me. "I'm sorry," she said, "It's just, I was looking through some pictures on my phone, and I came across one of my dad, and...I just couldn't deal with it as well as I used to be able to. I'm so sorry you have to see me like this." I looked at her. "Tess, don't you EVER apologize for crying. Just know that there are people around you that care. And don't you ever forget that." She looked at me, smiled, and laughed. I loved her laugh and I loved that she was happy. That's all I could really ask for...her to be happy.

Anna

Jeff seemed like a good guy. He cared about my friend, which is more than I can ask. She had been so depressed lately, and to see her laugh just warmed me up inside. I helped them pack and load Tess' things on to the van. I realized that this may or may not be the last time I see Tess in the flesh. I couldn't tel her about what her mom had said to me. She had told me that Tess needs to grow up and stop being a whiny little bitch that uses depends on everyone but herself. I was so mad, I almost decked her. How DARE she talk about my friend that way! I hugged Tess good-bye and told her to be carful. As the van pulled away, I felt an emptiness grow inside of me. Like a big part of my life just disappeared.
