Empty hope

Empty words on empty pages

So much left to say

I'd give anything for there not

To be so much in our way

Pretend it doesn't matter

It's not like there is a choice

Told myself to be quiet

Do not lend her your voice

Open up your pages

Let her write word by word

For we know out of all of them

Hers are the best heard

Write her a not in pencil

She may not be ready for permanent

Write yourself forever in pen

And wait for the moment

The moment that waiting isn't endless

The moment her heart could love you

But you were taught to know the logic

Not believe the impossible too

An empty word

On an empty page

Don't close the curtain

Stay on the stage

Confess through the spotlight

That what you know is true

Tell her how you fell

And hope that maybe,

Someday

She could fall too
