I hate Maddox's choices of classes for us, but I couldn't do anything... oh well. Maddox was sixteen, very much like the rest of us, but he was our team captain, thus, he got to choose the classes we would take. I mentally made faces at him when we got back to our room that night. He was sitting with Grace on the couch, both of them playing Smash bros. It looked like Grace was winning and Captain Mad... loosing.
The next morning, I was awakening from being hit in the face with a pillow. I blinked twice before looking at Maddox, who was crossing his arms in annoyance. I sighed, getting up and prepped myself for the day. Our first class today was History, which would allow me to learn a bit more about the abilities and our history. After washing my face, I rushed out of the bathroom and put on a pair of skinny jeans, a gray tee, and black jacket. Maddox was already gone by then, leaving me with Marco and Grace on the couch, Luis was still asleep. I didn't know where his room could be since certain gimmicks hid all our rooms. The rest of the doors were open and I looked into them one by one. I came into view with Maddox's gothic entirely black room, Grace's colorful pink and purple painted room, and Marco's bland white room with a mess everywhere. I stuck my head in the last one, where there were gray sheets were scatter on a bed with everything else placed neatly, but the shower seemed to be on. I stepped into the room, banging on the bathroom door.
"Oi! Luis, hurry up. We've got History to go to." I heard a muffled reply, and left the room, sitting on the couch and waited for the boy along with Marco and Grace. A minute later, Luis emerged giving me a sheepish look while walking out of the room. I sighed, following him along with Marco and Grace.

I made a face when we entered the room. Maddox was there already, giving us all looks before turning his attention to the front. To our luck, the lesson did not start yet, however, the bell did ring. Our professor was standing by the board, writing something down. Marco, Grace, Luis and I slipped into the room unnoticed by most.
"Alright, let's start." Our professor turned around, beaming at us. "Today's lesson is on the royal family and the origin of our abilities." She cleared her throat before beginning. "Now, to start off, each and one of us, including the royal family have two abilities. At first, it will be hard to determine which is which, but later you will figure it out sooner or later. Your minor ability would take more of your energy when using it than your major ability. The royal family today, is in hiding, in fear of being assassinated. However, to my knowledge, there is a prince to the royal family at our school. He himself knows who he is, and decides not to reveal himself."
"Why did the royal family go into hiding?" A brunette girl in the front asked, puzzled.
"Good question, Ella!" Professor Callows agreed with the girl. "This is related to Professor Ace's husband, Detective Ace's case about X." She sighed, pacing back and forth before continuing. "X's first kill was the prince's uncle, the king's brother. The entire kingdom mourned for the man, while the royal family secretly mourned and went into hiding. X is the reason why they are hidden and cannot be found today." A few murmurs broke out amongst the students. "Now, to get back to the royal family... They were extremely strong, their minor and major ability used up the same amount of power. Which, led for them to have two major powers and no minor." I yawned as our dear professor continued rambling on about the beauty and greatness of the royal family. "There was a royal tradition where the eldest male child would dress up in disguise and look for a suitable girl as his wife and the new queen." She continued on about how handsome the prince was and how lucky the new queen would be.
"How about our abilities? How did we get them?" Grace questioned, politely cutting our professor off about her ramble.
"Ah yes. I almost forgot! Thank you, Grace!" The auburn haired girl smiled while our professor pointed at the board. "History leads us up to the point where science points us to a species, the Homo sapiens. Now, with the Homo sapiens, there was a genetic autosomal mutation that connected with special abilities. Not like special needs, however, to be more like special and unique. The mutation skipped many generations and was not very common to the people today. There are a few people that we have collected and trained for the good. Some would find our type of people and train them for evil, like hijacking a plane and such terroristic measures like those. Our abilities are off of our personality, meaning that if we liked to travel, the ability could be teleportation. However, we will have flaws in our abilities; after all, we are just human." The bell chimed in, ending our wonderful history class only to be assigned an essay about one of our abilities. I internally made a face, knowing that it would lots of work for me to find my own ability, regardless of minor or major.
Grace snatched my hand after class, taking Marco's hand while I took Luis's by intuition. Suddenly, we all appeared back in the dormitory. Marco ran off immediately, his face a bit green about our quick teleportation.
"Can't believe Callows would use me as her example. I love traveling, and teleportation is just my minor ability." She huffed, tossing her hair over her shoulder angrily. "Even though Marco expected me to use it yesterday, it uses up way too much energy! I'm famished!" Maddox entered the room, just as Grace huffed and sat down in the living room.
"Darling! I have cookies!" He smiled faintly at her, only to be ignored. He sighed, setting down a bag of freshly made chocolate chip cookies. Marco raced out of the bathroom, reverting back to his pale Italian form before snatching a cookie from the bag.
"Aw! Thank you, Captain Mad. You are so sweet." I imitated Marco's voice as he munched on the cookie. Maddox took two steps back, a little freaked out by Marco's voice. I sat up, grinning at our dean. "Hey Maddox, it's just me. I swallowed Marco's voice by accident. It's okay." He gave me a quick look before turning away, a little annoyed by my voice swap. I grinned a bit before turning to Luis, who was squeezing his eyes shut. I gave him a concerned look, looking around to see a frustrated Grace. I furrowed my brows, and opened my mouth, about to ask what was wrong when my mouth was covered. Luis's left hand was covering my mouth, and his other hand helped him drag me to his room. He shut his door before pushing me onto his bed with him.
"Er... Luis? You okay?" I questioned him, a bit fazed by his odd antics. "You're not going to murder me, are you?" He gave me a questioning look before taking my hand.
"I can feel emotions, and I can control the intensity and whatever emotion I want a person to feel. Grace was... well... super annoyed, so I was sort of freaking out. I didn't want to lash out at you, I, er, prefer where I don't lose a friend due to my emotional control. Now that I'm not in the same room as her, I'm a bit calmer." My eyes widened, a bit thankful for his consideration.
"Thank you, Luis. I appreciate your concern." My eyes brightened a bit, my blue eyes shining in gratitude. He gave me a warm smile, his mercury eyes twinkling as well. We spent minutes staring at each other- no, not in a creepy way. Rather just studying each other. Or of the four, Marco, Grace, Luis, and Maddox, I felt the closest to Luis and felt a connection. He was handsome, no doubt, with his soft mercury eyes and white-blonde hair and bangs, he always had a smile on his face. He reminded me of Draco Malfoy in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, viewed upon as Harry's archenemy. However, Luis and Draco were very different; Luis seemed to be the boy to not be able to hurt a fly, and Draco, to come from a painful background. The two only seemed to be similar appearance wise. Immediately, the air around me began to get warm, my eyes furrowed in confusion as I gave Luis a questioning look.
"Oops," the door opened, revealing a smirking Maddox, whose smile disappeared when he saw that Luis and I were staring at him in confusion. "Hehe... don't mind me..." Maddox trailed off, muttering under his breath about revenge. Luis sighed, turning to me slowly.
"Um... Maddox loves changing the temperature to annoy people. It's because of how he refused to live inside. He's gotten used to it, but he's still a fan of cold, cool, icy night air. He wanted to see your reaction, to see if you were freaked out. It seems that you were just... confused." I chuckled softly, laying back onto his bed while holding out a piece of paper for my history essay. Luis pulled out a piece of paper, immediately writing away. I sighed, burying my hands in my face. I basically had no power... what was I going to do?
----------
*Phew!* Finally done. It definitely took a little time. So now, you know about Grace's teleportation ability, Luis's emotional ability, and Maddox's temperature. Poor Artemis, too bad she can't figure out her ability yet. Don't fret. She'll find out one eventually. Once again, please leave comments, tips, and questions down below.
