Red maple leaves fell around me as I walk to my destination, alone. A new start, a new place to sorta call home and hopefully a better me- no, a new me. I took a deep breath and took my first step,
into dog shit.
Hi, my name is Taylor. Taylor Bailey Reed. Yes yes I'm the famous author's son. Nope, no one notices and maybe that's a good thing. They just thought I was a boy with the last name Reed. All of middle school and high school I really didn't have any friends. Sadly stepping in dog poop was a major set back already.
"Did....that guy just step in dog shit?" I heard someone whisper.
I looked down biting my lip as whispers went around before laughing was now all I could hear. These are college students, shouldn't they be more mature? I guess not since people are laughing at me.
"Shut up and get out of my way." a guy said pushing the guys off the sidewalk onto the grass.
They glared at him but it seems like he didn't care and just ignored them. He started heading my way. I flushed biting my lip again. He's kinda good looking and cute. Okay, you caught my bluff. He's more than just kinda good looking and cute. I gulped as he stood in front of me.
"U-Uh thank you for-" I began.
"Your in my way too." he said.
"Oh..." I said softly looking away and stepped to the left so he could get by.
He walked past me without another another glance. Okay...another set back. But that's okay. I can still try to become friends with my roommate. But first......no not let me take a selfie. I need to clean my shoe.
♡♡♡♡
"Hiiii roomie!" the guy chirped and hugged me.
I blinked, hesitantly hugging back. Well I guess being friends with my roommate won't be too hard. He pulled away beaming.
"I'm Chuck." he said winking.
(--) My gaydar says Chuck is totally gay.
I smiled back as he beamed. His smile was so bright I think it could burn my eyes.
"And I'm Taylor." I said.
"Well Tay;" he said putting his hands on his hips, raising an eyebrow. "Bi or gay?" he asked and I flushed.
"What?" I squeaked as he laughed.
Come on Taylor, don't pretend like you didn't just go all gaydar on him a few seconds ago.
"Gay it is." he said then hip bumped me winking. "So am I." he said giggling.
(--) Ooooh, you don't saaay?
This guy was more gay than me and very energetic.
He frowned like he read my mind.
"Sorry if I'm making you feel uncomfortable, I'm just trying to make friends." he said rubbing the back of his neck, looking down flushed.
"Ah no, it's okay." I said waving my hand as I gave him a reassuring smile and he smiled back.
"So what time are your classes?" he asked grinning and I dug in my pocket for my schedule which I also had a copy on my phone, but didn't feel like going through the whole turning on my phone and unlocking it.
I took out the folded, slightly wrinkled paper and unfolded it. He looked over my shoulder with his bright green eyes.
"Oooh I have those classes too." he said grinning.
"During the early morning too?" I asked and he nodded.
"The early bird gets the worm." he said grinning. "Plus, the rest of the day afterwards I get to sleep or do what I want."
He made a good point. That was kinda the same reason I picked early classes also. I can have the rest of the day to do what I want. I can even take naps just in case I want or need to stay up late.
"Well;" I said folding the paper back and slipping it into my pocket. "Lead the way to our first class." I said and he beamed linking our arms before pulling me out the dorm into the hallway.
♡♡♡♡
He showed me around campus. It was pretty nice, I got to talk to my professors a bit. Chuck and I decided to take a break then head on back to our dorm. I saw a vending machine and went over to it, digging through my pockets for money. I'm my back pocket I found a quarter. Guess I left my wallet back at the dorm. I sighed softly putting the quarter in, hoping their was something I could get.
Sparkling Clementine? Hmm it might be good. I pressed number 13 and out came the slightly thin can. I was happy but surprised it cost a quarter. Most vending machienes at least make things worth a dollar or more.
I reached down about to grab the can when another can dropped down. "Holy shitz!" I jumped holding my hand to my chest and glanced to my right to see the cute... guy I saw earlier looking at me with a raised eyebrow.
I felt my cheeks get hot. I kinda watched him and he kinda watched me as he grabbed a purple can that looked similar to mine.
"Problem?" he asked standing up straight and I gulped looking away.
When I glanced back to look he was gone- and so was my drink?!
I grumbled as I walked towards Chuck. He was sitting on a bench and someone else had taken the spot I was sitting. He w5as grinning and laughing. I sighed stopping at where I was standing. I didn't want to disturb them. I could head back to the dorm by myself. It'll be fine. So I started to turn my back towards Chuck to leave.
"Taaaay!" I heard someone yell and turned around to see Chuck waving at me grinning, a girl with brown hair and blonde at the ends, tied in a ponytail was sitting next to him.
I walked up to them rubbing my fingers together. "Hey." I said smiling gently.
"Ready to go?" he asked and I nodded glancing at the girl who was getting up.
"Um..yeah." I said giving him a reassuring smile.
He grinned getting up and linked our arms. He turned waving to the girl who waved back smiling before we made our separate ways. I wanted to ask who she was but didn't want to seem nosey so he did all the talking and I would reply or nod. Chuck and I were like polar opposites, not saying that was a bad thing. Maybe it was a good thing.
"So that's why you make sure to not wear girl flats in the winter." Chuck explained while he dried his hair while sitting on his bed as I laid on my back in my bed reading a book.
"I don't know what you talking about." I said closing my book and got up putting it on the book shelf then turned off the nights.
"Tay?" Chuck yawned as I got into my bed and pulled the covers up on myself.
"Hm?" I said turning towards the wall.
"Real first day tomorrow, don't be scared."
I was quiet for a moment. I snuggled under the covers breathing slightly hard at the warmth and pushed the covers off me slightly.
"I'm won't." I breathed out.
But I already knew, that I was.
First chapie ^^ hope you guys liked it. Sorry it wasn't too long. Any comments?
