Life isn't easy and medical school makes it messier.
I woke up at 6 am without any alarm. Yeah, I didn't need an alarm. Though I'm a mild insomniac but sleep comes to me an hour before the college time.
It was my third week into medical school and it was okay, if not a bit constricting. I wasn't meant to be here. My place was somewhere else. I didn't know it yet but I would someday. I knew that. At least, I hoped I would. Where my heart wouldn't beat dead slow, where my mind would properly concentrate, where my sight isn't clouded, my sight.... shit! I forgot my specs, again.
What the hell! I do hate my specs but I can't function without them. While I was cursing myself Myra handed me her specs. Although our friendship was only 3 weeks old, she knew me a little too well. She is this chubby cowboy-ish girl, has waist-length dyed red hair and wears hazel brown contacts. She looks like someone who gives warm hugs. She was friends with nearly everyone in the class, but we had a special bond.
"What's up dude, why dincha pick up my call last night. We have so much to bitch about." With that, she started telling me about some girl who made out with her boyfriend in the animal house.
"Oh hi, what are you guys talking about?" Leena said, looking a bit self-conscious as ever. Leena is pretty, but she is very doubtful of herself. She is confident and talkative but she limits herself so that no one gets offended or hurt by her actions or words, though I hardly believe that she can hurt a fly.We begin to talk about our plans for the weekend in hushed voice because Ms. Khalida had already begun her lecture about the human embryo development in third semester.
I was a good student but college, kind of, killed my vibe. I scanned the class for some distraction. A group caught my eye. A group of cute looking guys. I spotted two of them making fun of the lecturer. Turn off. A guy with shoulder length hair shushed them up. He was cute. And he, for a brief second, looked over. First, I thought he was looking at Leena. But no, he was looking at Myra. Nice.
