Solace

Chapter 5- Sighs

"Why didn't you come yesterday, I called you like a hundred times?" Myra asked, clearly angry.

"I'm sorry, mom got really sick Wednesday night. We had to rush her to the hospital. I was so tired afterwards, I didn't want to get up and get dressed for college." I said, with an apologetic smile. Myra's expression softened immediately "Oh god! I'm so sorry for being horrible, what happened... I mean how is she now?"
Myra had some idea about my mom's PTSD. When she came over to my place, she stood in the doorway while I tucked mommy in her bed. It was really nice of her to not ask anything about it, though I had hinted her about mom's mental health issues several times.

"It's okay you didn't know and she's going to be alright. I'll visit her today if the doctors allow me to. You don't worry about that." She looked concerned. So I tried to change the topic "Did I miss something important? Where's Leena?"
"Yeah, bitch you did. A lot of things."
I laughed, " like?"

"Like this amazing chocolate shake Ivan bought for us yesterday. You weren't there so we all shared yours."

"Okay, you guys had chocolate shakes without me. I want mine. Where's Ivan? He better bring me the shake or else I'm not inviting you guys to Aerrin's party next Saturday."

"He just got here and he's having a party. Wow, I love this guy." Myra looked impressed. I shrugged.

Leena came late with Ivan and Taha. They missed a class. We went straight to the cafeteria."Why did you guys get late?" Myra inquired.

"You won't believe what happened! We were stuck in traffic just outside the school. Ivan got out to find the cause of it and a minute later he came back with an angry face. We asked what happened. An asshole had blocked the road with his car parked in the middle and he wouldn't move until the person who tried to overtake his car apologized to him." 

"Really? What a douche!" I said shocked. Why do people like this exist?
Leena shook her head.
"what happened then?" Myra asked. "We all went to see the scene and it got really messy when the guy refused to apologize. Someone called the police but they never arrived and then the dean's secretary came and whispered something in that guy's ear. The asshole actually smiled, pulled away and moved his car. He even pulled the guy up, he was punching a second ago." Leena said.
"Musta been some kinda spell" Ivan added.
"Hey you!" I pointed at Ivan, "where's my choco shake?"
Ivan looked around for help. " I bought one for you too but it's your fault you didn't come"
"No excuses." I wagged my finger at him.
"Okay, I'll buy you one after school."
"Two," I said in an authoritative tone. He nodded silently.
"And peace cometh upon thee" Taha put his hand above my head. We all laughed.
I told them about Aerrin's 'get to know each other party' and invited them all as Aerrin asked me to yesterday evening. His classes were starting from Monday and he said it'll be a good idea to throw a party at his father's golf club near the beach after a week. By then, he said people would be over their awkward phases. And I knew that he invited my friends so that I would come too and not sit at home alone, sulking.

"Oh my god he's here." Leena whispered, elbowing my ribs. As we entered the parking lot.
"Who's here" I looked around slowly.

"The asshole I was telling y'all about, in the morning." she whispered. At that moment my eyes landed on that drummer guy I saw last week in MH. 
There were a lot of guys around him but I knew somehow she was talking about him. He was standing against an SUV, talking to his friends and smoking cigarette. I recognized his friends. Two of them were my classmates and the rest two were senior. They were all wearing schools basketball jersey except for him. He was wearing a white sweater with blue stripes and blue jeans.
The parking lot was empty except us and those guys. We walked silently towards Ivan's land cruiser.
