I rung out my hair once more before putting it up in a towel on top of my head. I was clad in simple black leggings and a dark flannel shirt, knowing that I just wanted a lazy day today. I put my contacts in and blinked a few times before walking out into the living room. I know I heard a second voice while I was in the shower, so naturally, I was curious.

"Who was that at the door?" I asked David, surprising him a little as I sat next to him on our couch.

"Just someone trying to sell me some solar panels," he replied smoothly. He finally made eye contact with me but I caught that little glint in his eye that I always noticed when I thought he was hiding something. I plastered a fake smile on my face and kicked my feet up onto our coffee table. I made a mental decision that this time, I wasn't just going to let this slide.

I was actually going to point him out.

"Why would someone do that? We're in an apartment building, we aren't allowed to, actually we physically can't, use solar panels," I said and chuckled lightly whilst shrugging my shoulders.

"Not sure, there are some crazy people out there," David said and I laughed lightly.

Liar.

I noticed that, once again, he was in his suit on a day he was supposed to have off.

"You're going in today? I thought we were just going to have a lazy day," I complained and stared at him as he looked down at his hands.

"The scheduling got all messed up. I would just take the day off, but our boss is coming and I really want to impress him," David explained, not once looking up from his hands.

"Oh. Well, I might do some grocery shopping a little later and maybe grab some coffee. Is that fine?" I asked as my subconscious rolled her eyes.

You used to never have to ask for permission, my mind told me as I shook my head.

I've had this voice in my mind that's been telling me things that link me to my past. I've been listening to everything it's been telling me, because I want to remember as much as possible. However, so much of it has to do with how someone else treated me a different way than David does. A normal way.

"Huh? Yeah, that's fine," he said as he stood up. He checked his watch before kissing my forehead.

"I've gotta run, I'll see you later," David said and was already halfway out the door before I got a chance to respond.

I heard the door click shut before I muttered a "bye."

I rolled my eyes as I stood up and took the towel off of my head. I hung it up in the bathroom before plugging in my hairdryer and curling iron.

My hair was naturally curly at the ends, but whenever I dry my hair with the hairdryer, it turns out a bit poofier than I would like, so I touch it up with my curling iron.

I quickly did my hair before putting away the appliances I used. I french-braided a front piece of my hair back and pinned it with two pins so it would stay in place. I slipped on my moccasins and grabbed my purse from the doorknob of our bedroom door.

"Olivia!" I called out, causing that damn tune to get stuck in my head.

I've been idolizing the light in your eyes, Olivia.

My small dog came running to where I was standing from her bed and I crouched down to pick her up. Once she was in my arms, I patted her head a few times before saying, "be good," and setting her back on the floor. I walked out of our apartment before locking the door behind me.
