I stand outside of the stage door and watch the interview from the side. When Josh, Jen and Liam walk on the stage, the crowd erupts in cheers that remind me of the ones we heard when Liam and I kissed on set the other day. I watch as they wave to the audience and sit on a larger sized comfortable looking couch. They're angled so that I can only see the sides of their faces. The interviewer begins when the audience gets quiet enough to hear."Alright so I think we all know who plays who, thank you Internet." she says. The crowd cheers again. "Speaking of the Internet, have you seen the responses that your casting is getting?"
"Yes, most of them are bad." Jen says, laughing.
"It seems like most people aren't very pleased with us being casted as the main characters in the movie, but I personally think they couldn't have casted a better Peeta or Katniss, and we are all working hard to prove to them wrong." Liam says.
"Aww, thank you." Jen smiles.
"You're welcome." He nods his head at her.
"It seems to me like we have a lot of great relationships forming on set. Do you agree?"
They all agree simultaneously, so Jen and Liam look toward Josh because he hasn't had the chance to speak. He catches on quickly and answers, "Me? I've personally become great friends with most of the cast." He pauses to think for a split second and then shrugs. "Everyone's just so nice and... accepting and thankful to be casted in such a great, well anticipated movie. It's an honor really and, like Liam said, we're all working hard to bring justice and life to these great novels." he says.
"Exactly. He's exactly right, and that's what this movie is about for all of us I think." says Jen, looking at Liam.
"Yeah, just to bring these books to life in the best way we can, you know?"
"And it's not like we can speak for the rest of the cast but..." Jen trails off and shrugs.
"It's just one of those things where you go in and expect to work." Liam adds. "I would have never come in expecting to meet so many great people but I have. I've met Jennifer and Josh, and my amazing girlfriend, Vivianne Hartley, who plays Clove in the movie."
"Hold on a second, did everyone just hear the same thing I heard?" I giggle a bit at her reaction. "Do you mean the same Vivianne Hartley that I met backstage just minutes ago?"
"Yes, of course. She's the only Vivianne Hartley I know." he answers.
Even though his head is turned, I can almost see the adorable smile on his face. I twirl a stray strand of my hair around my index finger and bite my bottom lip. "Do you both know Vivianne?" she asks Jen and Josh. They nod but Josh speaks first. "She's amazing. One of the greatest, most beautiful, funniest girls I know. They're lucky to have each other." he says sweetly. "Aww Josh." I say aloud and then cover my mouth and giggle at myself.
If I could I would go on stage with them and let people see who I really am for themselves, instead of only hearing second hand about me. I know that I probably shouldn't go up there though so I just stand backstage and watch. Even though they're saying only good things, I still feel like I should prove those things to be true. I've always felt like I have to prove myself to people I guess, that's a major weakness of mine.
My phone vibrates in my back pocket. When I pull it out, I see that my brother, Matthew, is calling me. He and I talk regularly, though I haven't seen him in almost a year. The time on my phone says that it's somewhere near noon and he knows that I usually would be filming or doing something at this time so that's a little strange. I decide to answer anyway, I can always watch the interview when it airs on TV. I turn away from the stage door and answer in a hushed tone with, "Hello?"
"Vivianne? You have to get home right now." My older brother's usual calm and collected voice now sounds panicked.
"Why? What's wrong?" I ask, starting to get nervous myself.
"It's Dad." Those two words send my heart leaping in my chest. "He collapsed while he was with Mom, I-I'm at the hospital with her and I... We thought I should call you." he explains.
"Wh... What do you mean he collapsed, Ethan? There's no way he..." I stop short and shake my head when another thought overlaps my original one. "He and Mom get monthly checkups; they would know if something were wrong, right?" I feel lightheaded. I have to sit down.
"I don't know, Viv..." The tone in his voice is terribly grim.
"Well is he okay?" I try to breathe slowly and deeply.
"No... Vivianne, Dad is... he's very sick. He's asked to see you before he..." my brother trails off, but I know what he means.
