On our day off about one and a half weeks later, Liam texts me and tells me that he's on his way to my house. I text him back, my heart pounding and tell him that the paparazzi will follow him here, but he replies saying he's got it covered. Already being dressed from just getting back from the grocery store, I sit by my window and wait. Then I see someone pull into my driveway in a lime green Ferrari. That is not Liam's car. I open my front door and poke my head outside with caution. The car door opens and Liam steps out, wearing a dark pair sunglasses.

"What in the world?"

With my mouth agape, I step outside and the cold autumn air hits me like a brick. I rub my arms and shiver. Liam grins at my shocked expression and looks at the car. "Do you like it? Picked her up this morning." He runs his hand over the top of the green car and locks it with his key before starting toward me. I stare in disbelief for a little longer before closing my dry mouth and looking up at him.

"Of course I like it but wh—"

"Relax. It's a rental." he whispers and pulls me inside.

It's so much warmer in here than it is outside. I watch Liam go around my house and shut my blinds and curtains just to be safe. Finally, he approaches me, grabs my face and kisses me roughly. It's been three days since we were able to spend time together and I missed him so much in that short period of time. Liam breaks our kiss first, but I find myself wishing that he hadn't. I want more. His touch is so calming to me.

I want to kiss him again but he steps away and sighs heavily, as if the entire world is sitting on his shoulders. I crinkle up my nose and furrow my eyebrows in concern. "What's wrong?" I ask him. He sighs again, places his hand on my cheek and looks down longingly at me. "I wish we didn't have to be a secret." he says softly, looking into my eyes. I rest my head on his chest and sigh. "I know."

Again, he kisses me, and I feel like I am floating ten miles above the ground, soaring even... until he breaks away again. This time I am satisfied and I breathe against his lips. "What should we do?" he whispers to me. I think for a moment, really wanting something to eat but knowing we can't go out. And then it clicks. "We could make chocolate chip cookies." I suggest. He smiles, grabs my hand and starts to lead me toward my kitchen.

"You are absolutely perfect for me." he says.

We gather everything that we need (including measuring cups) and then we get to work. Liam's cooking skills turn out to be very impressive, not that I'm surprised; he's perfect. He kneads the cookie dough and places clumps of it on a cookie sheet for me while I figure out what we should eat for actual dinner. After putting the cookies in the oven, he comes and sits by me at my smaller sized circular dining room table.

"I could go pick us up something if you'd like." he suggests.

"I don't know... do you think someone would follow you back here if you did?"

After discussing it for a minute longer, we decide that I should go instead. There's nothing suspicious about me picking up food and going to my own house. So Liam stays behind while I quickly go out to pick up Chinese food that we preordered. The closest Chinese food restaurant is only a couple miles away so I put on my shades and leave Liam alone in my home.

When I get in my car, I get this strange empty feeling in my stomach and realize that it's because I'm not with him anymore. I admit that maybe I was rushing to get back home and that's why I was driving so fast. Stoplights come and go a little too slow and when they turn green I step on the gas too quickly and make reckless turns until I can get to the parking lot of the Chinese food restaurant. I park and hop out into the crisp air. My sunglasses make things seem too dark in the setting sun.

"Hi, I have an order that I called in about 15 minutes ago." I state.

"Name?" says an Asian man approaching the computer.

"Uh, it's under Hartley." I say, almost forgetting.

"Ready in 5 minutes." he says without having to look. "Give five minutes, it be ready."

He turns around and walks away. I stand for a minute or two before taking a seat in a little area with chairs and a table. It's pretty clear that this place isn't meant to be sat down in and I'm becoming so hungry that I'm getting lightheaded. I tap my foot anxiously and look out the window behind me, trying to distract myself. Soon enough, I hear my last name called and I jump up to grab the to-go bag. I pay him quickly and exit the restaurant while pushing my iPhone into my back pocket and grabbing my keys instead.

In the car, I think that all of my days with Liam are worth the cost.
